I know it's not my place to choose your new year's resolutions for you and I don't want to either, but I found an article in my email from Change That Up that listed 5 resolutions to consider for the new year.

I like them, so I thought I'd pass them along.

1. Make laughter a daily priority. The qualities of laughter are:

  • It's free
  • It reduces stress and anxiety
  • It activates the "feel good" part of our nervous system
  • It's essential to building rapport and relationships with others
  • It keeps us from taking ourselves too seriously

2. Spend time alone. We all need some "me" time away from other people and distractions like devices, social media, TV and such. Time to think, to meditate, to refresh ourselves and contemplate life.

3. Practice gratitude daily. Gratitude opens our hearts, it allows us to think beyond ourselves and diminishes selfish attitudes. It also helps us around, over or through the challenges we face in life.

4. Fast once a month. Fasting, meaning going without food and drink for a certain amount of time, usually 24 hours but it's flexible, has several benefits.

  • It improves self- control
  • Helps practice self-denial
  • Teaches self-sacrifice
  • Teaches the body to be in subjection to the will, increases will power

You might need to consult with your doctor if you have issues that might be affected by fasting, like diabetes.

5. Cultivate a "Do It Now" mindset. Most of us need to learn to overcome procrastination, especially me. Putting things off means that they don't get done and pile up for later. If we can get in the habit of taking care of things right away, life will be smoother, and more successful.

Well, there you have it. Five resolutions to consider. Have you got another one to add to the list? I'd like to know what it is, so let me know.

I'm Grant

Very inspiring!

It is said if you eat in the evening,
there should be 14 hours left in between with next meal...
Besides a big glas of water

I'm an evening snacker. I'm trying to reform but so far, I struggle. Maybe this year....:-0

Try other type of snack
With low sugar

I know, right? That's a no-brainer but the reality isn't always what it should be.

Yes...

I love all this, apart from the fasting 😊

I know, right? I am diabetic and my doctor has told me not too fast. I used to though, back before i got that dastardly disease.

Yes please do not fast, I am a Nurse Practioner and fasting could cause you to go into shock. Eat high protein low carb diet with plenty of green vegetables.
your friend Sandy

I enjoyed your thoughts, especially the do it now. great post.
Sandy

Thanks, Sandy. Good to hear from you.

You as well my friend Sandy.

I've read the optimal time for fasting is 5 days and we can go as long as 21 days! I've done 2 days...that's long enough for me!

Mine were only 24 hours, but I can't fast now because of diabetes.

Great post Grant, thank you very much.
I like number 1 the most and look forward to making laughter front and center in 2019!
Blessings
Louise

Thanks for your comment, Louise. Laugh much!

I can relate to all 5. Laughter is the best medicine. I can be alone without ever being lonely. If you are not grateful, how can you be helpful. And living the Keto lifestyle I often only eat once a day, just like the cavemen. I used to put the pro in procrastination. But somehow I always get 'er done.

Great post.

Mark

Thanks for your words, Mark. Sounds like you're already aligned with the 5. Best to you.

This is a good one
Thank you!

Thanks. Happy New Year!
