And I don't mean all of the technical stuff that I will learn through training. I mean making my site look "pretty" and attractive. I tried to tinker around with using royalty

I agree with you. Unless I’m missing it somewhere, I think there should be a course in adding photo and video to your website. I was in the hospitality business and whenever I was selling my properties, I always tried to capture attention with photos and then content to backup the photos. I (ad agency and I) sold a lot of room nights that way. Photography and video, backed up by convincing content is how I want to sell in the travel niche. I’m sure different niches can sell on content alone, but I don’t think travel is one of them. As Ms. Johnson said, please point me to instructions that make my site look “pretty and attractive” and the content will follow. Great question, “Gjohnson1836” .

Hi - Although it's tempting to add patterns or background images, these can be distracting. The main focus should be on your content, so a plain and simple site keeps visitors reading for longer.

At this stage, you should focus on your content. It will be several months before you start getting visitors, so how your site looks isn't important right now.

Hi Gjohnson, you may also need this training . Cheers

Hi

Appearance > Customize and check your options.

However starting out it is better concentrate on building content as it is the bulk of our sites and takes the longest to rank in the search engines, as your site develops you may look up at options how to beautify.

When I try to add my home and privacy policy pages to the menu, the box on the left that has this information is kind of "whited out", I don't know how to explain it, and it wo

Hi

You first need create a menu, then add your items onto it and save changes.
. Appearance > Menus

The problem is you haven't created a menu yet. You need to give it a name (such as header menu) select its location (primary for you header menu) and click the Create Menu button. Do another for the Footer menu.

Thank you so much! That worked!

A simple mistake to make. Glad you got it fixed.

This is a snip it of it
