Wow, What a Journey So Far!

I have finally made it through the training all the way to the end of level 2. I'm so excited by what I have learned here at Wealthy Affiliate. I expected to learn but I did not expect to learn so much in such a short time.

For your information, I joined WA a couple of years ago for the free website and starter training to try my hand at working online and to be in business for myself, but had to drop out after completing the free training in the level 1 certification course. I even had a siterubix website up and running with my first post and an idea for an affiliate product to start promoting.

What happened? I had the obstacle of not being able to afford to go with the premium membership at the time. Then, feeling miserable and wanting to learn as much as I could about affiliate marketing, I began trying to do it all on my own. I bought eBooks, and sought out free training that never quite cut the mustard in terms of giving enough information, I got caught up in following so many blogs I couldn't keep up with all of them. In other words, I started to drown in a world of knowledge but learned nothing. I ended up a bit of a train wreck.

I also tried to find opportunities around the internet or network marketing which lead to putting my finger in too many pies and kept going with this opportunity idea, or that one, and because I was still quite raw in knowledge for what I would need to do with WA, I let other things get in the way. I put it in the too hard basket. What I mistake that was. Not that there was anything wrong with the other opportunities I looked at, I just found them to be not quite the right fit for me and my life as a carer.

Now, just a couple of months ago I returned and was able to afford the premium membership at last. Since then, I have started not just one website, but 3, and thoroughly enjoying writing content and exploring online marketing. Here are my websites in order of when they were created.

1. http://startingsustainableliving.com/ About the basics of starting a sustainable lifestyle

2. http://carersloft.com/ About being a carer and what trials we've had and tools we've used to overcome them

3. http://jabbergibber.com/ About making sure now that Disney own the rights to all things Star Wars, that the Star Wars Expanded Universe is not forgotten.

Yes, I know 3 might be a bit much to be doing as a beginner, and will surely slow down my efforts at monetising my sites, but it gives me variety to write about. If I get writer's block on one of the site's subject matter, often I can write about one of the others and get past the writer's block.

My goals now are to start searching for and adding in ways to monetise my sites, for example, learning how to become an affiliate and how to incorporate this into my sites. See how ads can be placed to bring in more opportunity for extra income. Lastly to produce enough income to never have to rely on government welfare again, and to hold my head up high as a fellow income earner around the very people who have scorned my carer efforts through not understanding the situation for what it was. It would be so nice to be able to show them how they too can increase their income once I am fully supporting myself.

But mostly, I want to just enjoy writing, which has long been a dream of mine. If at the same time I can help other people learn something about how they can live a sustainable life, or make the life of another carer somewhere, just that little bit better, it will be worth it. Or perhaps if I could introduce people to a whole new plethora of Star Wars stories for their added enjoyment, I would count myself lucky to have found a way to love what I do for a living. That is not a job, it is a passion.

Hope you have enjoyed this and if you are a member here at Wealthy Affiliate, I wish you much success. If you aren't a member, ask yourself what harm could it do to just try out a week for free and get a website and training to show you it can be done? Online business is achievable with Wealthy Affiliate. I didn't believe that there would be everything needed here in the one place to get a person started, but now I've seen it for myself. Thank you to Kyle and Carson for founding and maintaining such a fantastic course.

Thanks for reading

Ange

Congratulations. I see that you are a very good writer as well.

Thank you Umsizi
Sometimes I worry that I write too much, but then it wouldn't be me. I prefer to be myself as much as I can when writing. I guess some people will read it and others won't, but at least I write exactly what I would like to that way. I'm sure I will find a happy medium when I get more practiced at writing my blogs. Wishing you much success with your writing.
Ange

Best wishes to you then. I always read all the comments I received.
You are so sweet. Keep writing.

Wow, you impressed me on those websites! In other words, you have the knack of creativity. In no time, you will be an online marketer diva in your own rights. Use it to your advantage. Wishing I have that web talent too. More power!

Thank you so much Coney. It is really great to hear such words of encouragement. I was feeling slightly discouraged about whether my content was ok or not. It means a lot to me to hear your praise.

Glad you made it back Ange. I believe you had to go on that journey. Now you are a better blogger, website builder and more knowledgable.
Onward and upwards :)

Me too. It's been one big journey too. Amazing how life does little backflips and suddenly you are on a path you never even considered before. I hope I can live up to being better at blogging and website building. I'm definitely more knowledgeable that's for sure.

I find there is always something I can improve on. I just keep doing.

Good stuff Ange, enjoyed your insight !! all the best .

Thanks so much. I hope you are following your dream well here at WA. I can't wait to start the next course. Shortly. LOL.

Very nice. Welcome back to WA. Make you succeed here

Thanks so much. I'm not going anywhere but staying here at plodding along now. No more being side tracked.

Well done! Being a full time carer is a big commitment and it will be great for you when your success in WA comes around as it surely will. I keep up with 3 relatives who are around 90, but that is not full time, so I only have a small understanding of your life. Keep up the good work and well done! Cheers Jill

Hi Jill. Thank you. It is difficult at times being a carer. Always on call so I'm always getting distracted from doing my WA due to being needed for something or another. Hopefully this won't last forever. I feel like there is hope that my daughter is on the road to recovery finally, but it will still be a slow process.

Great post and am glad you were able to come back wish you every success with it all you have certainly progressed very well

Thanks Katie. I am getting excited about starting level 3. Just have to answer all the comments people have left for me on the discussions I have been part of recently, then I'm on to it.

Good post Ange. I do understand that it can be frustrating for people to be able to afford the monthly membership in order to continue their training and business building. But let's be realistic guys. If anyone who joins WA for the free trial and expects it to change their income situation significantly, and without any further expense is going to be sadly disappointed. Building any business, online or not, takes time, patience, commitment and I'm afraid to say, investment. I should know. Until I retired I spent my working career building two business over a period of over 40 years. And it didn't happen overnight. Or without investment. The monthly fee of $47 is probably the most cost effective way of starting your own business that I know. Whether you like it or not, to be successful you have to "speculate to accumulate". The people who use this program for the free trial expecting miracles overnight are the same people who will eventually say it's too hard, quit the program, then go spend a few dollars on many of the $7 "how to make $1000 a week " sites that flood the Internet on a daily basis.

That is true. I'm very lucky that my thoughts do not involve thinking that I will never have to pay anything else, nor do they believe that the free trial is the miracle some might be seeking. The only thing that stopped me before was that when you live $1 for $1 on low income, you sometimes have to wait until one debt or payment clears before embarking on the next. And believe me, being a carer can send you into a financial disaster with many unexpected expenses whether you budget well or not. It's not like there is any money in it. Thank goodness I managed to clear a way to start paying for the premium finally. After all, that's what I'm here for. So I can increase my income over time and never have to live $1 for $1 again. Because being a carer is not a money job, it's a love job. I would still encourage anybody to try the free trial to see what it's all about and get an idea on the process and work towards a direction they can strive for. That's what happened for me. I got a taste, but unfortunately it was bitter sweet because I couldn't work with it straight away. Now everything is much better because I've broken free.

That's great to hear Ange. Your absolutely right, the free trial is just really a taste of what's to come. But the real acid test is taking the next step forward by becoming a premium member as it really shows the desire and commitment to make it work for you.

A big well done Ange, it shows a determination to succeed, which I'm sure you will. As I've become a "carer" myself in recent times, I can understand to a point, the difficulties you have had and perhaps are still facing. There is a saying "young men have visions and old men have dreams". As I fall into the latter "category" I'm in the process of following my "dream" with WA.
It was a pleasure reading your well written article. :)

Thank you very much. I'm really glad to hear you are following your dream. I know what it's like when you have dreams that you can't work on due to circumstances beyond your control. I've had many a grand plan disappear into the ether because of the turn life took for my family. I get up, think everything is a little better, make some great plans, then back down to reality again. But we live and learn. If I hadn't been placed in this position, perhaps I would never have been forced to look for alternative incomes, never found WA and never discovered that I just might be able to follow the dream I had of writing since I was a little girl. Who knew? Now that's seeing the positive in negative experiences isn't it? LOL

Congrats on finishing Course 2.
Ed

Thanks Ed. I really appreciate it. :)
