My experience at Wealthy Affiliate - week 44 of 52

Here I am again to give you a very quick update on my progress of the last 10 days (as yes, once again I missed my weekly update of last Sunday).

I have kept busy

Finally, I am picking up the pace again. I only published one post last week, but this year I managed to fit in my two posts - so yes, I am slowly moving back to the old days. Yay!!

But the best part of it is that I managed to progress with the Bootcamp lessons. For the 'newbies' that may be reading this update, some more authoritative members than me - and some ambassadors - firmly advise starting with the Bootcamp lessons straightaway, and then using the Online Certification as a consolidation to your learning. WA created the Bootcamp as reinforcement to the Online Certification lessons, but the more I get into Bootcamp, the more I think my more experienced colleagues may be right alter all. Bootcamp does deliver powerful stuff, when it comes to teaching you the proper ropes of the business!

The other thing I kept myself busy is finally starting an autoresponder. After so much searching, for now I have decided to go with Mailerlite - after registering both my sites and verifying the unique APIs, I am now in the process of setting up my subscription pop ups, which I am hoping will attract yet more recurring visitors.

And finally, I have spruced up an account I had with one of the many traffic exchange websites. The one I use is Traffup, and most people twitch their nose when it comes to traffic exchange methods. Yes, organic traffic is what counts in the end, as it is deemed to be the traffic that brings conversion. But the likes of Traffup contribute to attract traffic. And traffic is the one thing that lately has slowed down on both my websites.

Am I focusing on the wrong things?

What concerns me is exactly this: a slow down in traffic and in sales. And I haven't got referrals for the last couple of month, after a temporary pick up in September.

So this begs the question: am I worrying too much about conversion? Shouldn't I rather concentrate on producing more content, and on sharing my passions with my visitors, rather than focusing too much on marketing and on social media? Well, I think in asking this questions, I have found the answers as well, don't you?

The problem remains that there are only so many hours in a day, and so many days in a week. And content should, and will, always take priority.

One last quick reflection, if I may. Yes, it's only going to be another 8 weeks before the end of 2017. And let me preempt to you that this will also mean the end of my weekly updates - which for some, no doubt, will be a breath of fresh air. But as the year draws to a close, I cannot help start weighing up my progress versus my failings in the last few months. I think I have learned a lot, but the road is still long and steep. Far from desisting, I say 'Bring it on!!!'.

Very good and remember Baby Steps.

Thank you, I shall :)

I really commend your commitment to posting your progress, Giulia. Regardless of whether you missed a week or posted later than when you would have liked, on a deeper level, you're creating a new habit.

I started off great with Michael's (Ultimateless) writing challenge; for several months, I was writing 2-3 posts consistently. My progress took a nosedive during late Summer, and I'm just now getting back to what I was doing before. We can either curse ourselves, or we can take a mental note of what happened, and keep it moving.

Michael's writing challenge will be coming to an end soon, but regardless of whether he decides to continue into 2018, someone else takes the reigns, or it fizzles altogether, I have already established a habit of writing consistently, because of the foundation that has been lain.

I'm certain all your questions will reveal themselves in time, Giulia.
All the best for your next 8 weeks!

Thank you ever so much, Veronica. As ever, you are a strong pillar of my development, a strong shoulder to lean and rely on - and for that, young lady, I thank you :)

Hi there
great post and thanks for sharing the advise.
i have not done bootcamp as of yet, still concentrating on my main site.
i expect to start on the Bootcamp in the New Year all going well and as you say, one course leads into the other as a type of follow-up and refresher, so I am looking forward to that.
Best wishes and thanks for your updates, it keeps us focused and again we are all learning and leaning to one another
Cheers PB

Thank you ever so much for your support, Phil, as ever :)

I started months ago, but have taken a detour, Phil. I'm torn between doing something crazy like a push to finish before the end of this year (Eeekk!) or spend the rest of the year focusing on my existing site, and then start the new year with a bang with Bootcamp.

If I had a 9 to 5, it would seem almost insane, but since I work less than 20 hours a week, it's doable...scary...but doable.

I friend of mine just told me yesterday that she completed her Masters in Teaching in just one year...something that could generally take 2-4 years! anything is possible when you really focus. Writing that makes it seem so easy.

Hi there again
if we want something badly enough, we can get it, that's for sure
we will have to change our thinking and adopt a positive attitude.
I remember when I finished the certificate course, I set myself some goals...Like to reach 100 posts in 6 months.
I did that and now I have set another goal and that is to write another 100 posts...so I am doing this right now...
bit by bit we will get there
keep focused and keep an end prize in sight
continued success Veronica
Cheers PB

I appreciate you sharing this, Phil.

I know that everything we do really starts in the mind, so what you said about having a mind-shift makes absolute sense.

One of the things I love about this platform is that just when you start to have those moments of doubt, and those tiny whispers of, "Uh..I don't know if I can do that", a fellow member like yourself gives the encouragement and gentle nudge to move forward.

Thaks, Phil!

Good read, you have to keep enjoying your journey.

Thank you, I shall try taking it easier.

Good Morning Giulia,

Especially for women, the month of December is very busy and I suppose we will even have less time for our websites. Oh well, it will pick up again in January I am sure. I have not sold anything yet and my little WA banner has not brought any referrals either. I also saw, after a peak in August, the number of visitors dropped for the following months. I think I will stop worrying about it and just do what I have been doing, work.

Have a great week, Taetske

I think sometimes, Taetske, that's the best approach. There's nothing worse than overthinking things.

I like your "keep it moving" attitude, Taetske.

You are redefining your focus and you're moving forward.

Well, I'm trying, Lorrie :)

Keep going and inspiring.

Nick, you are too kind :)

Good point.

Thank you :)

Giulia, I am in Certification Course 5 Lesson 5...are you recommending that I start Bootcamp and work both simultaneously? I am very curious...thanks,

Joe

I would say working simultaneously may give you a lot to do, possibly too much. And given the fact that you are already halfway through the Certification, don't drop it now. But don't do what I did: do not give you breathing time once you have finished the Certification, but get stuck in to the Bootcamp straightaway. Initially it might not look to different, but then as you progress, it will introduce you to further marketing tools which, I'm sure, you'll find most useful :)

Thanks for your reply. I wouldn't dream of dropping the certification, and since I am retired, I might dabble in Bootcamp also. I do have 3 dogs, and help my neighbor (single Mom with a varying work schedule) with her 5 dogs and 6 horses. It might be just the thing to keep me off of the streets :-)...thanks again and best wishes,

Joe

A great pick me up Giulia!

Thank you Mike, I do try... :)
