My experience at Wealthy Affiliate - week 39 of 52

To remain on the same trend of wanting to give my weekly updates a title, the one tile apt to sum up this week can be none other than: 'Wonder Woman, that's not me!'. Because, the reality of it all is the fact that this week, yet again, I have struggled to juggle my work commitments with my new life and commitments as an online entrepreneur.

I am an online entrepreneur

OK, it may be still a little premature to give myself such an important role, or maybe a tad presumptuous. But then again, albeit still a beginner compared to some people out there who do this job for many years, I feel I am getting there.

I feel the more I work online, the more I learn, the more my horizon opens to endless possibility.

It is true, sometimes it's good to know your limits and to focus on fewer good opportunities. I think as far as I am concerned, yes I am concentrating on what's already bringing me an income - such as affiliate marketing and my doggie related website (which you are welcome to visit from the link under my profile picture). But at the same time I am also 'experimenting' with other avenues, such as creating my YouTube channel and profile.

I have been stuck on Phase 5 of the Bootcamp for the last 2 or 3 weeks, but now I know what videos I want to create, so I am all ready to 'roar'.

Something has to give in

Of course, as mentioned last week, I am still working with Electoral Services of my town (three more weeks to go), and this is using up my spare time, which I would have otherwise dedicated to moving my online business forward. And Wonder Woman I am not! Something had to give in.

That something was my writing, as in fact I only managed to publish one post. And I neglected being active within this community.

I am still looking for that magic wand to transform a day in a 48 hour cycle, but I haven't found it yet #lol

What next

It goes without saying that I need and must go back to my two posts a week in the coming week. And yes, ideally I would like to make my first properly thought YouTube video with intent, as Kyle would call it.

In other words, I would like to go back to the lovely rhythm I had picked up before taking on board the additional job. But the reality of it has to be that it is unlikely I shall be able to do so for the next three weeks.

If I may give a word of advice to new recruits here at WA, it's this:

There comes a time where you need to start making that choice between what you want more: do you want to carry on with your current job, stuck in the corporate environment whilst doing this as a hobby? or do you really want to make a success of your WA enterprise and of your online business? The choice is yours.

What are your plans for your future at WA? Can you afford to spare more time on your online business? or have you got financial commitments like me, who prevent you from taking the plunge and dive head on into the deep waters of online marketing?

Leave your comments below, and push the green button. if you relate at all with my circumstances.

Serene and proactive week to all!

Thanks for the post. Have a great week.

You are most welcome James :)

619legacy blogged on 01 Oct - create your why. It is vital to have your why clearly written down, with achievable financial and non financial goals. I am taking so long to get to where I want to be because of lack of experience, but am establishing my self as an online Entrepreneur- Thank s to Wealthy Affiliate!

Absolutely Tania. If you think of how far we have got by working very much part time on this avenue with WA help, can you imagine how much further we can get, and how much faster, if we start committing to our online business a little bit more every week?!?!
Mind you, easier said than done, but once this project is over (only 2 more weeks to go), I'm gonna be back on full blast!

Good Morning Giulia,

Nice to see you again. I think you are doing very well and also a lot. It sounds positive to me.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Taetske, lovely to hear from you. I hope you and Michael are well, and also that Michael's cat has fully recovered. It was a terrible fright. And how is the co-operation project going? Give my love to the A-Team :)

Good evening Giulia,

Shugar still has not recovered completely yet. She has to go to the hospital every 3 weeks for a blood test. The A team has gone down the drain as too many people backed out. I will now approach people on a more personal level.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

I work from home and yes, I struggle with juggling the different commitments. It is really not easy but I say to myself not to let go and just push forward (even if it's an inch) daily.

I think that's the secret after all, John - just to push one inch at a time, so long as every day we do something to the benefit of our online business :)

Nicely done.

Thanks John, much appreciated.

Hi Giulia - Nice weekly update.

I'm up to my ears in work and family commitments, so I'm stretched pretty thin in allotting more time to my online business.

It's one step at a time for me each week in the hope that I can make a break through in getting more traffic to my site.

Have a great week.

And I am sure you will get that break. If there is one thing I am learning through WA is patience and perseverance. The earnings may not be massive at first, but they will come. And the more hits your website is going to get, as you know, the more traffic is going to attract as time goes by.

Yes, I'm trying to get back to WA. I have had some work to do with my other hobby, embroidery. I have a couple of clients that needed embroidered towels and aprons. I'm thinking of starting a new web site selling my embroidery skills. Let me know what you think.

Susan, as soon as you mentioned your other hobby as embroidery, I was sold. It's an excellent niche for a website - you can teach skills as well as material and lessons! I'd follow you avidly!

Hi Giulia, I love that term; online entrepreneur. Congrats on reaching Phase 5 of Bootcamp. Impressive. Am sure you will conquer it soon.

Ideally, Lauren, I'd like to finish the Bootcamp lesson by the end of the year, but I'm not sure I shall manage - I am moving at a snail's pace, but then again, I want to absorb and retain each and every bit :)

Well, Been spend most of my free time after work and socializing in front of my Mac working on my Online venture.

I think it's the right formula, SK: working online and marketing through social media is a business, but fulfilling the fun part of it too!

I can totally relate to this. Even though I am retired I am constantly trying to learn new things (some of those have been horribly expensive and stupid, really really stupid). But I have cut way back in expenses. I just try to do too many things at once and I still haven't managed to just focus on one thing and so I know it really well before taking on something else. Oh well at least I've improved and determined some things I just don't want to do so I'm focusing on the things I enjoy.

At least your job will end in 3 weeks and then you can go back to the way you were. You already know you can do it because you did it for a long time.

Take care,
Barbara

I should take a leaf off your book, Barbara, when it comes to be selective. I am not at all averse to multitasking and diversifying, but sometimes it is necessary to weigh up the benefits versus the costs (not only monetary, but energy levels, and time management related) of taking onboard yet again another tasks.
This project (now 2 weeks to go) is one that I took up last year and persuaded myself to take on this year too, but given the time and ill effect it's having on my online business versus the overall money I shall get for it, I am not sure it's going to be worth another stunt next year.
Hopefully, this time next year I shall be able to earn the same through my online business :)
