The best results come from compressing images on free compressor, optimizilla, or tinypng, then uploading them to the site and using ewww image optimizer plugin in the editor. optimizing them on the free sites reduces them more than the plugins is my experience

no, don't copy and paste - upload the images to your wp dashboard or now we can use sitecontent for images too

~You can disable or turn off JavaScript and CSS minimize plugins
~Any plugins related to website SPEED can be disabled. SiteSpeed - Taking WordPress Website Speed into Unchartered Territory! Yes to removing any spam plugins like Akismet also.
