Why Do I Keep Coming Back
Am Tired Of This Syndrome
I have been trying very hard to make money online since 2008 to no avail. But I have not given up on this dream and will not give up till I make it happen. I have taken a step back to reflect on what actually is my number obstacle why I keep drop in and out of WA and I can categorically say it the Shiny Object Syndrome (hopping from one program to another)
So I decided to do a little bit of research into it and I found out that this disease of distraction affects entrepreneurs more specifically because of the qualities that make them unique. Entrepreneurs tend to be highly motivated people who are not scared to try new things.
Normally, these are great characteristics, but when our brains which were originally designed to get more out of what ever will improve our chances of survival and to avoid what would worsen the odds against us is forced to hope from programme to other and never settling with one option then we are in trouble of not achieving our dream life style.
This phenomenon is equivalent of a child chasing after shiny objects. Once they get it and see what the object looks like, they immediately lose interest and start chasing the next one.
According to science, you might have an outdated brain circuit that’s interfering with your success and being aware of these characteristics alone can help you find ways to combat it. Awareness is Everything.
If you are experiencing one or more of the following behaviours:
- Shiny object syndrome (hopping from one program to another)
- Procastination
- An inability to complete a project you started
- Try to do things Perfectly ( Perfectionism )
- Unable to earn income online no matter what you do
Then you are in Trouble of jeopardizing your success in whatever you want to achieve in life.
So How Do We Combat This Menace
I Believe you can deal with this syndrome by Focusing on one project at a time and throw youself in 110%. Say to yourself Every Morning when you woke up that am going to complete this project for once in my live time and set a time limit say 2 hours everyday on the project without distraction. Switch of your Phone. Open just one Tap on your Computer. If live gets in the way sometimes don't beat yourself to the ground just keep going the following day.
Get yourself an Accountability Buddy. Someone on the same wave length as you. This is where WA comes in. If you found WA and you are really Serious about living the laptop life syle then you are at the right place, because am someone who has move around quite a bit and have seen and try alot of programmes out there and can say with certainty that WA is by far the best community of likeminded people who are willing to help each other to achieve success online Period!!

I love the description of your "disease." Now that you have admitted your problem, maybe this is going to be the time that you will win the battle.
I like to call myself the poster child for what happens if you don't focus on one website. Slightly different problem but similar. It slows down progress.

I don't know if you have ever watched any of David Goggin's Youtube videos?
He's considered the toughest man alive. He stresses the importance of being completely honest with yourself. That allows you to notice when you are on the verge of "quitting." When you recognize that point, then you can push yourself through the distraction - shiny object in this case. Shiny idea in my case.
It helps you develop an intense focus on what you want.
Here is to a weekend of intense focus on the one thing that matters the most.
