Hello, I am wondering if I should go for a niche that includes a multitude of similar products such as gaming headsets or gaming mouses or both. However, I am curious if this i

That's a wide-open question. lol. It should be narrow enough so you can compete against the bigger sites and sort of specialize in an area or two of the bigger niche. That's really the reason to narrow it a bit. It doesn't have to be so narrow you can't create content for a year or more though.

How wide or narrow should an ideal niche?

My niche is star wars, and has been hard to find any decent stock star wars photos that are related to my content posts? Is this a huge problem for me, not having these stock i

Hey Tim I had a similar interest but mine was "Star Trek".

A few years back I was the webmaster for my hiking club. We were not the largest but we are incorporated as a nonprofit. Anyway for a joke I made a "worm hole" in my site. I pasted a small picture of a UFO into a mountain scene of an actual hike. When views touched it with their mouse they entered my sites "worm hole". There I used Star Trek images and created a "Carton" of a series of pages that had the characters interacting then meeting the Wicked Witch from The Wizard of Oz to get them back to my "HOME" page . Anyway here is my point.

We had a lawyer on our Club's board of Directors and he told me I best remove them as it could cause a liability issue for the club and myself, unless we had permission to use.

I think Onmyownterms gave a good solution below. See the issue is that the "characters" are also owned by the film studio. However if you contact them they may very well give you some permissions especially if you give them a link. But you best contact them.

No, because unless you get licensed images from LucasFilms or Disney you'll have your site taken down in a heartbeat. That being said though, contact the studio and ask for images you can use in your reviews. Most of the time, they will provide you with images you can use.

I have non stock photos on my website? is this large issue?

I have a Star Wars niche site that I am really enjoy working on! However, I've been running into some issues finding any decent affiliate programs to join. Can anybody point me

Hi,

I searched for "star wars + affiliate" on Google (without the quotation marks) and found a site called "ThinkGeek". They have an affiliate program.
I don't know if it's any good, but you can check it out.

I also don't know how strict or demanding they are.
Since you are rather new to WA, your site might not be big enough yet.

Cheers
Moritz

  1. I created a star wars site that's going to aim on star wars products from merchandise, lore, and other aspects of the universe. Is this to broad of a niche or should I nar

Huh. I think this falls into the category of testing and research needed. I mean focusing on a single movie franchise is pretty niche, but because it's Star Wars it might be hard to compete with all the fans. I'd do some keyword research to see if you can find some places where you can get some SEO traction. Social media and forums may also be a place to get some traffic. Assuming you can find some good keyword possibilities, I'd just start building the site and see what happens. You may end up having to narrow it, but I don't think there is anyway to really know that with this particular niche until you give it a try. That's my $.02, but somebody else might come by and have a better understanding of that particular market.

Thanks! I appreciate the input, I've only been on WA for a few days but I'm really digging the helpful feedback everyone gives!

Back to the niche, I'm starting to sway more towards mostly merchandise of star wars. Will keyword search research help me narrow down what is popular and worth writing about?

To an extent. Have you hit the SEO stuff in the training yet? It goes over keywords, how to choose them, and how to use them to get traffic. That's what you want to focus on. You don't necessarily want to find what's most popular because it may have a lot of competition. Instead you want to find places where there is enough interest to be worth your time, but not so much that it's getting everyone else's attention. The keyword training will go over all of this. Once you get a good foundation going, then you can decide if it's worth going after some of the more popular products.
