I only have a showing of my posts there on HOME right now. Should there be something different?

Hey Linda. Your home page is showing your blog roll, which is fine. :)

I personally like my homepage to be a static homepage, meaning that it won't get updated unless I update it. I have a training on how to make your homepage static, if you want to take a look. I state the advantages of having a static homepage there and I even give my own homepage as an example in the training. Having a static homepage has actually worked better than a blogroll, in my case. :)

A static homepage is simply a home page without the blog listing. Instead, it contains any content the site owner wants – typically widgets, images, and content about the purpose of the site or the business.

A static home page is a homepage that doesnt change its format. It may change the content within the format but essentially you have various features that do not move about regardless of what you write..
If you look at my home page
www.twinsandtripletsworld.com

It has a static home page the right side of the home page are there all the time so things like sign up and one or two ads. The central bit of my website is a feature wall and changes depending on what i have been writing, I can dictate what goes there but usually I leave it random.

The way I get this is with my theme. It offers me various 'widgets' these are slots that I can put things in but I know the pattern of them so i know what i want to put where and the theme offers me various choices of widget - image, html, video etc.

I could have a non static homepage but in my head I like structure and this makes sense to me and the audience I am wanting to attract.

By default, your blogroll is shown as your home page. This is the WA recommended setting, as it means your home page is constantly being updated as you add content.

The alternative is to specify a page on your website as your (static) front page. This is set in Settings >> Reading.

No, it shouldn't be. It should just be the posts on the first page.
