HI Guys. I'm currently working through Course 3 Lesson 2 of the certification courses. I'd really like to start promoting some products from Amazon on my website but I'm unclear as to what the requirements are.

On the Amazon Associates "learn more" page, they mention having a top level website in order to participate.

Can anybody tell me how much traffic I need and if there are a certain number of pages/posts that are required?

Thanks in advance!

Hi John,

From my experience, you just need to have *some* content on your site. Like, around 10 pages of unique content will allow you to join Associates - I did it a few days ago and my new site is barely 2 months old. I haven't implemented Webmaster tools with it, yet, so I don't know how much traffic does it get besides from WA members, but I bet there are not tons of it :)

If you don't mind me asking, what kinds of problems have you encountered?

I was trying to open an acct to sell books from their site. I opened a case, they answered (but not to my satisfaction)and closed the case. I tried to get some more answers by chatting with them and they said I could not talk to them about a case that had been closed..... ridiculous stuff.

That's terrible...I can see why that might leave a bad taste in your mouth.

Do you know of any other affiliate programs that you can source products from?

I would suppose that would depend on your niche

John Amazon would like to see some content. I don't think they have an exact number of pages or posts. But as with any affiliate program it is best to wait until you have some traffic before applying.

it seems to always come back to that. I am sure if you applied to Amazon you would be accepted.

I just had a look at your site. Very nice. I think you are more than ready for Amazon if you choose them.

You might think about doing some reviews. With the quick look I had at your site you might consider 3d printers.

You have the parent page set up expand on it.

You might want to watch jay's webinar from Friday on parent pages.
