Could you tell me the biggest mistake that any affiliate should avoid at the beginning?

The biggest mistake that I've noticed is the lack of passion. I believe that it is this that ultimately leads members to lose motivation, become discouraged and ultimately stop taking action.
Building an online business through blogging requires constant updating of one's site and perseverance despite no immediate signs of success.
I have found that the only way one can really remain committed in a program such as this is when s/he is truly passionate about their niche and feels personally connected to their target audience. When that is the case it's easy to keep working on the business because it is something they love doing even if it takes several months before the money comes in.

I agree TravelHacker. Right now I am getting back to work here at WA after a few weeks off. I have been in kind of a "Funk" and no motivation at all. Your comment to masamir is very helpful. I am very passionate about my babyboomersinterests.com website, but burn out is a problem sometimes. But anyway I wanted to thank you for the comment. Mohamed, I think one of the biggest mistakes most affiliates make in the beginning is they focus to much on trying to make money and not enough time just making there site trustworthy and enjoyable to read. You need to build authority with your readers first, You need to grain a loyal readership you need to understand who is coming to your site and why, once you have done that you are in a better position to sell them something and you are also in a better position to get high grade affiliate programs on board with your site. And of course DON' QUIT!!

That's roughly what I was going to say too. Focusing too much on making money quickly tends to have the opposite effect. If I go to a website where I can quickly see that it's only been put up to make money, I immediately leave again.
So when others said 'not having enough patience' they were right too. And so are the ones who say 'lack of focus'. Different people have different personalities, so the sort of mistakes they are likely to make, all of which are 'big' mistakes, tend to vary.
