I’m just starting out and wondering should I concentrate the affiliate marketing around brands I actually know. I’m in Australia and My website is about vegan eating. Is marketing only Local brands that I actually know and tried a good idea? Or is that shooting myself in the foot?

My advice is to go world wide unless there's some kind of AU specific information you want to really focus on. Veganism is definitely global, so it makes sense to go global. Then you capture the US, UK and Canada market as well!

You can definitely market AU brands to your AU audience as a sub-niche, or micro-focus part of your website, but I'd still keep the broader topic of veganism to a global audience.

May I say am committed to organics and vegan eating is a definite plus niche. I'd start local get your feet wet and eventually go global -- Happy Sunday :)

If you only market in you're own country seems as though you would be putting a damper on the new business

You can start local and then branch out. Get use to what you are doing reviewing products and then slowly move from your comfort zone and try new things.

You could start broad then see where the traffic is coming from then create your partners accordingly. You could just test one or two as part of the training which builds the habits and skills.

You really don't have to make that call now. Just grow your readership through great content, the rest will fit into place later, good luck, You do have a potential audience with no boundaries but its your business so your call. Phil
