Howdy Abie!
Great question? I am inquisitive, too; with my depression, my sleep greatly suffers, plus the work I have to do on the ranch, I am tired. What advice do you have for me? This question is not just directed at Abie but to the whole community.
Thank you.

Copious amounts of alcohol…no.. not really..
Meditation and no eating after 6 pm…
I suffer from the odd black dog, but I find a healthy diet, and meditation ( can just be laying down for 10 minutes) does help.
All else fails, I walk..

I know how depression and anxiety can interrupt sleep, as I struggle with this, and fibromyalgia myself. I am also an occupational therapy assistant and in this profession we know a couple statistical facts that may help you:

1. Ignore electronics 30 min prior to bed (phone and laptop). The blue light prohibits melatonin production.

2. If you can, set your room temp to anywhere between 60-67 degrees. Too hot or too cold leads to more wakefulness throughout the night, which ultimately leads to a groggy morning.

3. Read a book before bed. We all know how reading can make you sleep 😊

4. Try eating some pistachios or almonds before bed. The magnesium and melatonin support sleep.

I have my Kindle white paper because I have tinnitus with a rather loud cricket sound that that makes it difficult too ignore. I have my local library card so that I can get free downloads of books for a 2 week period. The reason for the Kindle is that reading eventually puts me to sleep and it remembers the last page you were on. Make sure you have a thick rug next to your bed because often it can fall when you are asleep. I have had this issue for over 35 years and it is getting louder all the time. I am thankful for my Kindle cure.

Most of my week I'm up at 5 am to be at work by 6 am to get home at 5pm.to go to bed at midnight usually.but by saturday night .I'm sleeping in . Rest hmmm after I got ran over by a car twice by the same car. Rest is something that will never happend again. I dont sleep in a typical bed I sleep on the recliner.because laying flat I cant do. You all can put your arms above your head with lil to some effort. I can't. I dislocated both my arms in the accident from the car that ran me over.twice. but that's another story of my life. And now you all know alil more about me.... Sorry I went over board here Abie. I'll pay more attention next time.

Dennis, I am sorry this has happened to you and it is no easy thing at all. I hear you. I try to do the best I can with what I have, however most probably easy said than done.

I have a relative who too had an accident and now suffer a chronic back pain problems unable to stand, sit or lie down for lengthy period of time, and it is very frustrating. A life is suddenly turned around. All of a sudden the person became incapacitated and no longer enjoys the things that's precious.

I appreciate it so much, sharing your story with us Dennis. Never ever feel you're going overboard lol No need pay attention next time.

Glad to have read your comment.
