Yes, That is too bad that India is a restricted country. India of course has a Huge English speaking population and they are actually growing very fast. Why should they be considered a country with more disreputable members than for example China or Russia who are not restricted in the same way? It appears more that there are high percentages of Muslims in those countries that are the restricted countries. Pakistan on the other hand would have a more radical population and I can see WA would want to be more careful when dealing with members here.
The fact that Indians have to pay first without the same advantage of free months and free websites as a trial will make it all the more difficult to recruit there.

It has NOTHING to do with religion. The Philippines are 86% Catholic and they are restricted from joining WA as a free starter member too. Plus Islam is not the dominant religion in India

There are 7 countries restricted from joining WA as free starter members on account of high fraud rates and they are:

Bangladesh
Egypt
India
Nigeria
Pakistan
Philippines
Vietnam

Boomer,
I do not plan to get into a political debate with you about this.

I hold you in very high regard with your most excellent training.

Everyone is entitled to his own opinion and I am for India NOT being penalized like the other countries listed. For that matter Vietnam also.

But you must agree that Philippines has already a major problem with Muslim terror. Islam is the second largest religion in Philippines. The Moro Muslim majority in Mindano is very vocal.
See for example one headline of terrorism in the Philippines this year.

All I am saying is that the reason these countries are banned from the free membership has nothing to do with religion. Never has and never will.

However it has everything to do with Fraud. Because these countries have a high probability of fraud, PayPal refuses to do business in these countries.

Since WA uses PayPal, Kyle and Carson have decided to not exclude people from these countries in becoming members, but allow them to join as premium members only by way of a major credit card.

ok, ok, ok, I am probably paranoid about the current threats and which countries they are coming from. But this "fraud" explanation is a little on the weak side as far as I am concerned. If these countries are chosen arbitrarily by Pay Pal and and WA can not accept payments through Pay Pal, I will accept that.

It is just funny (strange) that commerce through the other credit cards is O.K.?

Thanks for your clarification!

First off this person will have to join as a Premium member because India and several other countries cannot sign up as Starter members.

However that message your friend is getting has nothing to do with signing up as a starter/premium member. That message means they signed up with the same email address and/or IP address at one time in the past and they have forgotten about it.

There are a lot of people who join WA at some point and never do anything and forget about it. Then a year or so later they read another review of WA and want to join, forgetting that they already joined years ago and now cannot.

Get the email address that your friend is using to sign up and PM Kyle with that email address. He can verify if that email address/person is already a member.

There are many WA members from India. If he tried using a different email and it didn't work it is probably because he was using the same IP address, that address is also tracked not just the email address.

I know some countries are blocked from signing up. I think if he or she signs up as a premium member they can get in. I do not Know why this is the case as mentioned below you may have to ask why.

First off, good job for referring a friend! I would think that you'd remember joining WA. It's not exactly the cheapest every month but it's still manageable. If you're friend is absolutely sure they didn't make an account in the past, I would contact Kyle or Carson about this.

I have saw in a few posts before if when they ask you what country you are from use another country such as Canada, US, or UK and that may resolve the problem.
