I bought my .com from Cheap Names.
I transferred it to WA.
I purchased it for 3 yrs, for best pricing.
Sorry you're leaving, Linda.

Thanks, Barb I wrote about in four posts, not because it's a non-profit website because I turned it to a book So there is no reason to stay on and there are other reasons also You would have to read what I wrote. Alls good Barb I think this is a good decision. I have had a very good run with the platform and WA Family. I can do a lot on Social media know that I know-how.

Hey Linda,

Several internet marketers swear by Flippa for selling a website.

Whomever you registered your domain name with can provide you with proof of ownership. But checking with whois dot net... see screen print below...

When I click on your Follow me on link to your website, I arrive at you website. However, when copying & pasting your domain name into my browser's address bar... I get:
This Site Can't Be Reached
WOW! Have tried 2 different browsers... nothing!

Ask SIteSupport to please fix the HTTP to forward to the HTTPS so this won't happen in the future - be sure to provide a copy of the 1st screen print below.

Hope you find this helpful.

Trish, I really don't understand How is whois.net. I write in my browser my URL and It does directly to my site

Trish, I copied and pasted in my browser also and I still end up on my website http://alwaysabetterways.com

if the URL has a back slash on the end it will show as not found

Thanks, Trish!
I bought my domain, 2 years ago, and when I went to select it said, already taken!
I think I bought that one 7 years ago, from another web building program.
Sure would like to know if I own them both!
Wink!

Hey Barbara,

Go to Google, type in whois and then click on the dot net version and use their search to see. You could also type the domain name into your browser's address bar. If a website loads then you know someone else now owns that domain name.

Some years ago, I bought a hobby site domain name through an American web hosting company and I did not like how they did business, so I discontinued business with them. Thankfully they let the domain name go, and I was able to purchase it years later, in my name.

This is exactly why I inform my local business clients to ALWAYS own their own hosting account and domain name. Most hosting accounts now include domain name registration, but this is how NO one will be able to hold their domain names hostage.

I think I understand better I am only leasing my domain for a yearly price so I don't own it out right

You would need to ask whomever you are paying to host your domain to be certain Linda, so don't be afraid to ask them.

Linda, to find your domains go to website>>site domain. It will list all your active and inactive domains.

Also, I just heard of a site today called flippa where you can buy and sell domains. Check it out if you decide to sell. You may get a nice dollar for it, who knows.

The site will only be there if it is hosted here - unknown from question.
And yes Flippa is one site that you can sell from.
If the site is listed here and she is leaving at the end of the month she may well not get a buyer in time.

That all may be true but she can at least try.

She can transfer the domain to somewhere like godaddy and park it until a buyer can be found.

yes I have heard two names mentioned Godaddy and Flippa where do I find website>>sitedomain Barbara. I know my domain in good standing because I paid it up for three years and it still has 2 years on the domain.
Jeff did this valuation for me and it is mind-boggling to think that it has so much value. But to do that I need to know where to find my ownership. I got it though WA does it have to stay here

You find websites in your menu under your profile photo.
It says dashboard, then training, then websites. Click on website s then click on site domain. It will bring up all the domains you bought through WA.

I've read this question 3 times and still don't know what you are actually asking.
Why don't you just retain the name - pay your domain registration fees annually and hang on to it?
That my be difficult or not possible if it was bought and/or is hosted here and you leave.
I would suggest you contact and ask site sypport.

She should be able to take it with her and register it elsewhere. TheCatherine seems to know quite a lot about this topic - I would ask her!

even if I tried to hang on to it I have no idea how to do that nor where to store it. It is up to date and still has 2 years on the domain name. maybe you are right to get intouch with site support.

Type her name as all one word in the search box above and pm her and follow her.

Info on how to transfer can be found under websites and then site domains and then check out the drop downs called settings on the far right beside the domain name. You would have to re-register it with another registrar like GoDaddy or NameCheap or some such.
