I’m wondering how does Amazon work? I understand they have 180 day period where you need to make a minimum of 3 sales?
Is there a minimum amount that these sales must be? Do family orders count towards your sales quota?
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Do purchases made by family members with same last name count?

I would have to say yes.

What if your last name was Smith or Johnson? It would be hard for Amazon to exclude you from all of those people...at least it wouldn't be fair to those with very common names.

Amazon only cares about the cookie. If the cookie from your site is on the customer's computer, your will get a commission from everything they buy within 24 hours of visiting your site.

They need to first click your affiliate link to a product, though.

Yes, as long as it to a different address, different payment method and not on a shared Amazon Prime account (at least not your amazon prime account).

If Amazon can see that you are related, you may not get credit for the purchase. They look for any reason to decline a commission. Check out reason #4 in this excellent post

Your own purchases do not count. You just need 3 individual sales in that time frame and the items purchased don’t need to total a specific amount nor do they need to be the items you linked to. As long as your link was followed last and something is ordered working 24 hours of following it, you’ll get credit.
