The majority of newbie members that come into Wealthy Affiliate (WA) are confused by how the comment streams work. Many times it’s pretty easy to figure it out as there are only one of two options. However there are some new members who either do not take the time to figure it out or can’t figure it out.

It is important to get it right otherwise you will not get a reply or a quick enough reply to your comment / question. If you are replying to a comment that is left by another member and you just post your reply as a new comment, that other member may not see your post. Even if you start your comment as @blahblahblah.

If you want the member in which you are replying to see your comment, you MUST click the “Reply” link on the original comment. This in turn will leave a notification that you replied to their comment and will get you a quicker response. Comments and replies should appear as a continuous vertical stream as seen in the picture below.

I agree Ade. I just want to share some clarity to the newbies so they can get their comments and replies answered properly.

This is really nice of you Robert to explain. It took me a little while to figure it all out so you are really helping all the newbies!

Yes Sharon, this discussion is meant for the newbies as they are the one's who often make this mistake. I'm sure we all made this mistake when we first started. :)

I have noticed some people don't play the game on '' Share your beautiful content'' also when I go on sites with comments, the owner of the site has not replied to any comments.

I always reply to comments on my posts Derek. I think it's respectful to leave a reply if someone is taking the time to leave a comment.

The only time I do not leave a comment is when I am creating a "Review" post for my website like my recent 2014 Site Rubix Review. I will only "Like" the comments in that respect because I do not want to add my comments to a Review stream that is being posted on my own website.

I never imagined for a moment that you didn't play the game Robert, I would also like to point out that, the comment and reply section is an actual extension of that post/page's content, therefore a good quality reply will increase the quality of the whole thing.

I didn't mean for my reply to insinuate that your comment was directed towards me. I know it wasn't. I was just saying it because I wanted people to know what I think about replying to comments.

And yes, you are correct in saying, "the comment and reply section is an actual extension of that post/page's content".

When Google crawls a website to see if something is new for indexing, a comment and a reply is considered new content. If people do not reply to the comments left on their websites, they will not get the benefit of Google crawling their website and thus their rankings will not go up as quick as it would if they did reply to the comments.

it's good of you to explain it. People are often shy about asking questions if they perceive their questions to be silly or dumb.

Raven, As Kyle and others (including me) have said, the only stupid question is the question not asked. :)
