A question I get posed to me all the time is goes a little something like this... "Hey Kyle, I want to know how long it is going to take me to earn money online here. What do you think?" My answer is always the same, but a little bit different depending on how the question is asked, but one thing remains a constant. YOU are in charge of your success. Not me. Not your neighbour. Second, you have everything you need here at WA to create success. It requires you to build a website, which is your foundation for success...this is the foundation of your house that you can build as big as you want. If you want the nice granite countertops in your kitchen, that will come later. But before you can build that kitchen, you need that foundation. This is where your website and your niche come into play. And it takes different amounts of time and effort to get this in place. Me personally, I worked my rear off for the first two months with ZERO financial success, but I had a ton of other success which was just as important to me. A had a website, I had content and I had the beginnings of a business. This is exciting stuff. One thing I learned early on is that if you focus just on money in life and in business, you will never have any of it or you will have to sell your soul to earn it. If you focus on "building" something great and something of substance, the money follows. This does not mean spending a week working on something and hoping that it will someone miraculously turn into a money tree. That is not how business works and that should not be your expectation. By my 6 months I had pretty much a full time income online. What had happened is my hard work from my first months work started paying dividends. That is how business works. What you do NOW, pays dividends LATER and sometimes forever. I have campaigns that I created over the years that I created once, took me a week, but paid me $$$ for years. My focus was not immediate money, the focus was creating something that was great, that was helpful for the people that touched it, and that was of tangible substance. So...you want to know how long it takes to earn money online? This is up to YOU and whether or not it EVER happens is up to you. One thing I can assure you of is that everything you need is here at Wealthy Affiliate, the only missing piece of the puzzle is you, your time, your dedication and your persistence.

I realize this post is over 4 years old, but I just came across it.
It's a great post, but I have trouble reading big blocks of text. So, I copied & pasted it to Notepad and added some spacing.
That made it much easier to read!

I didn't do anything but add spacing, but some of you may find it helpful :)

Hehe thanks. I believe he made that post in this way because it is linked on the faq on the outside of the website. There might therefore be an external reason for not formatting it here. But thanks for your work, makes it indeed easier to read! :-)

Thanks for the "like" and the comment, Steven!

(Since there's only one "like," I'm assuming it's from you.) :)

What an interesting theory you propose! The only others I'd heard before yours were:
1. "Maybe Kyle's testing us." (To see if we'd read a wall of text, I assume.)
2. "The formatting probably got messed up when the site was upgraded."

I like your theory best!

Would you post the link to the FAQ? I don't think I've seen it and I'd like to.

Hi Sharon,

The link was part of the Contact Us page of wealthyaffilliate.com

you find it at:

https://www.wealthyaffiliate.com/contact/

As I clicked on the link I got of course send to the page, but I am automatically logged in here. I am not sure what would happen if one is not logged in/registered with wealthy affilliate ;-)

I recently went through all the content on their page outside the login.

Hi, My name is Andi and I have been here at Wealthy Affiliate four months now.

I absolutely LOVE being here and have five websites up and running.

It keeps me busy full time yet I am at home with my children and we still do all the things we love to do like playing in the paddling pool, having BBQ's, going to the park and generally having lot's of fun.

I can put down and pick up exactly when it suits me and that is the beauty of how to earn money at home. It suits my needs perfectly and is the type of online business that I have been looking for in the longest time.

So, I am really still only building my foundations at the moment. but learning how to do that, gives you a massive sense of achievement.

Good Luck.

Andi.

The key , in my opinion, is that on-line marketing it's a wonderful tool to reach millions of people, so my main goal is to help people. As Zig Ziglar said once"help people get what they want and you will get everything you want" It's a win win situation, a true sharing experience.
I am learning so much that already i am a winner, i am helping myself, growing with my site and my ideas are expanding towards creating ways to help people. Money will come when i am ready to have them.

Wow, Kyle! I have been part of WA for a day now and what strikes me in every article/video is that you, guys are honest about stuff and that you are NOT PROMISING piles of gold to people in two weeks/months (like some other programs do!). You are HONEST! You are helping people to find the way to success and you have build great foundation for that with WA program! I feel that I always have you standing just behind me and you are always ready to help if I have a question/doubt or similar. Fantastic community and great energy here at WA!!! THANKS a bunch!

I can't tell you how far this type of honesty will take someone :) I personally completely agree with Kyle on this one(all of the above) an this is exactly what I'm after. I want to learn an build something strong, witch is Knowledge first, foundation for something amazing second, an if I can succeed at this....like Kyle said,.."the money WILL follow in good an due time".

Anyone here looking for overnight success, you may as well stop looking here an go find another website that will only lead you to an empty pocket. This site was designed to be an online CLASSROOM, or collage course to building a LIFE for your self with an online business. Rome was NOT built in a day, Nor has any other business.
Happy website building everyone, an remember, success comes to those who never give up on themselves an the dreams in their hearts. :)

You are right, Kyle. This is not what most of us want to hear. But honesty is the best policy and I appreciate your "tell it like it is" style. It is refreshing. Thank you. :) I probably speak for most of us here by saying...."the sooner...the better". *smile*

So True Kyle, you should not be working for a pay check, you should work for profit.
Today to many people want instant gratification all the time. Building a business is like farming, you plant a seed or many, in spring and you water and care for them trough summer and you reap the rewards in Autum. Running your own business is not having a job. You need to be prepaired to take respocibility for what ever you do and accept the outcome. If you don't like the outcome, change what you are doing. So if you not making any money, review what you have done, ask questions, make changes, focus on money making activities everyday. Get people to sign up.

Good analogy Eric, it absolutely is like farming. You reap the rewards as you nurture your business and it always requires that you give it adequate time. If you pick your stock too early, it is underdeveloped and will produce much less...just like business.

Well hell, I've perused a bunch of these posts, and so far just praise for and agreement that success takes time, Rome wasn't built in a day etc.

My first business did not make money for six years! When I left my job, the owner of that company gave me only one piece of advice. That advice: Don't give up too soon!

I have never forgotten that lesson. It's a good thing I paid attention because after six years of struggle, we made a couple of million. Of course, we also spent a couple of million, but had a great time doing it.

Six years is a long time. Must have been great to finally succeed. It's said over and over again that persistence is a major key to success and it totally makes sense to me. I'm gonna think of your story when I'm getting impatient the next time.
Thanks for sharing:-)

It will not take you 6 years to earn a good deal of money online, but for some it may take a year or so until you truly find your formula to success. Once you find this, you can replicate it and you can scale your success quite easily.

The Internet is only continue to grow and the cost of entrance has been minimized so greatly, that it is a flat playing field for everyone.

So true Kyle. In my full time office job I started out earning only my hourly rate. I worked hard to build my clientele. Within 6 months I was earning an incentive and I continued to grow. After one full year I had doubled my earnings and I continued to work hard and before I knew it I had quadrupled what I was earning when I started. I wasn't just concerned about the money. I wanted to grow but not lose the level of excellence that I worked very hard to maintain. That was my first priority...giving my clients the excellent care that they had grown accustomed to. I need to add...I started that job with absolutely no previous experience and absolutely no knowledge in that field. I knew I could do it and even though I worked long hard hours (and so many times I just wanted to throw in the towel) I never gave up.. I got to a place where I did not need to work all those hours to keep my earnings at a constant level and still maintain the quality that my clients had grown accustomed to. As I read through the training here I really wondered if I could do this. I stopped wondering and went ahead and joined as a premium member. I know that with hard work, determination and commitment, I will wake this work.

True, but some niches are easier to make profitable than others. I was overly ambitious and a bit naive at first. Took on too big a bite, so I ended up spinning my wheels with affiliate sales. I needed a staff to do all I wanted to do. It felt very frustrating and I almost gave up, but I look at it this way, I learned from my mistakes. So now I know better, have changed my business model, and am reaping the rewards. Still I put in huge work. You ultimately recoup in the end. Thank you for all the encouragement and continuous help.
Reply
Kyle Premium
I would agree with that, but at the same time, some niche are only easier because people are more excited to be within that niche (interest). It comes down to connecting with people and realizing that this may not happen overnight, but it will come with time and dedication.

Thanks for the post, Kyle. All this "mind set stuff" is so important. I've been hunting for money for too long, not achieving anything. And still I occasionally find myself thinking of money first.

I try to remind myself, that this is not the way I interact with people face to face. The internet is such a great tool to connect with people, but at the same time it's anonymity makes it sometimes hard for me to feel the connection the same way I feel it face to face to someone.

Thanks for reminding us!

Kyle Premium
You have to try to interact in the same sort of way online and humanize the process. The problem I see is when people look at everything as some sort of process and forget there are people on the other end. Just because you are on the Internet, doesn't mean that you are dealing with real people.

Humanize the processes and engage your audience. Success will absolutely follow.

That was my intention, to ground folks that are lost in some strange reality where we try to create a business overnight. It doesn't happen, but I can honestly say an online business is cheaper than any other business to start and has an audience that is ridiculously huge in size.

Is it ok to focus on the the traffic. Ill take traffic over cash so i can get comments and advice to improve my site. i know ill get better with each build and its a process like life
Reply
Kyle Premium
I would actually recommend that. Traffic comes from content though and your traffic "staying" on your site, will come from the quality of the content. Once you can engage and build trust, you have a business on your hands.

Thank you for this post Kyle. I think it is important to not focus on the money. If you do the work and focus on giving readers what they are looking for, the money will follow down the road.

Without an inch of doubt, this process works. I have not only done it once, I have replicated this process MANY MANY times. I have also worked with 1,000's of folks over the years that have done this, online and offline. It is the "way".

I think this is my URL is http://ilovegaming.siterubix.com or if not this is my web site name. I do not believe I added anything as I was waiting to get some cash in to complete my add-on's. I also haven't really been in much since Wednesday, as my Grandmother is down and my internet is really data capped. Also had got to a place of feeling lost and didn't ask for help. Wrong move to begin with as you said if I am or any of us are having problems just ask for help.

You get your website URL from the following page:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites

This is where all your management is for your websites. Perhaps you mistyped this and if it is actually broken, chances are an update you made has caused this. I would suggest that you consider "reinstalling" this website by creating a new website over top of the existing one if that is the case.
