Hi,

I've recently had reviews of my website and one consistent feedback I've had is to lighten up the website with a little bit of visuals. There are visuals in the actual contents, however, it will be nice to change the top menu bar to a livelier colour other than gray. Also how do you change the H1 font? Can any one help please?

I've Googled it and there were mentions of customizing from the child theme. Are there tutorials about doing more on websites other than the basics?

Thank you in anticipation.

Chuka

I just jumped into Jay's presentation (Dec 2013) on CSS. It brings out several tips on color and font coding. He also mentions: cssbasics.com and W3schools.com as additional references.

Thank you Michael. I considered changing my theme but for someone like me who isn't techy at all, I found that option daunting too. Thanks for the additional info you added.

You would typically have to update the CSS if you want to make updates to your overall theme design or your font designs "site wide". Jay has done a live class on CSS that I think will offer you some insights here: For me personally, I usually focus on making the content within my pages relevant and well designed without any distractions from the "theme" design. Simplicity leads to the highest readership and the most conversions. Just something to consider.

Thank you Kyle. I was leaning towards that however, I am conscious of people who are quite visual like me. When everything is grey, for some, it doesn't encourage them to stay on. I prefer the minimalist look on websites and so anything I do will be minimal.

Thanks again and for the link too.

Yeah, I agree with that as well. You can clean it up and if you don't like your theme, you can always choose it to something with a bit more colour. That is definitely an option you would want to consider versus trying to manipulate a theme (which can often times be time consuming and frustrating)
