I have observed that some people prefer a Static Page as their Home Page while others prefer a Post Page as their Home Page. I personally have always enjoyed a Static Page as a Home Page when visiting others sites.
I like being able to read an overview of a site, and being introduced to the content of the site. I appreciate then being able to follow links according to my interest.
Have you ever been standing in line while waiting to make your purchase and check out at a store, and the major headlines of a magazine in a magazine rack catch your attention? It is not unusual for people to then pick up the magazine and scan the entire magazine cover reading the lesser headlines as well. Often, they will then leaf through the pages until they find the article that is connected to the headline that held their attention the strongest.
Well, for me that is how I view a Static Page as my Home Page. It is as the cover page of my site. With the titles of the feature articles being displayed, though instead of page numbers in a table of contents, you are directed to the articles through the colored words linked to the articles.
Then you are free to continue to leaf through the links according to your desire.
This is my cover page: http://flowingfreedom.com/ and I am hoping the headlines will entice the visitors to leaf through my pages.
What is your preference?

I prefer a blogroll. I have the posts in drop-down menus, too, for easy selection. I think it's really personal preference.

Dear Christa, I am so glad you asked this question! I have been thinking about this issue for weeks. I was told I should have a post home page but somehow, that was not what I had envisioned. I am already doing what would be my home page, something that will help my visitors navigate the site more easily. Blessings!

Dear Hilda, I am glad if asking this question has helped you in some small way. Your site is your storefront and your online home, and though there are always things to consider in presentation for the generation of sales, that presentation should still be a reflection of you and your taste and desires. I have visited many sites studying and many of the successful have static pages, including Jay. Blessings, Christa :)
