Should I incorporate as a business before setting up a website and becoming an Amazon Affiliate? If I don't, am I able to put everything under the business once I set it up? Right now, WA and my domains are under my personal name. I'd like to be able to write these things off.

I'm curious to see how many people jump in and start working on their websites and affiliations right away. And, how many wait to get the business end of things in place before getting started.

You can be a sole proprietor. I just gave my tax guy my 1099, and he deducted my business expenses. Just keep a record, I have 1 credit card I use only for online biz expenses. HAVE

I added up all the expenses, and poof deducted. I used to be incorporated back in 2005, but now I have learned it is a waste, only until you are earning a lot more.

I used to pay my accountant once a year, then if I paid myself, we did payroll etc etc.

It was not needed.

If they are in your area, they are very good. They will answer any questions you.

Incorporating is more about protecting yourself from a lawsuit.

Hey Jeremy! I appreciate the info. I've done a sole proprietorship in the past.

Thanks for contributing to the discussion.

Most likely you're able to write things off even as a sole proprietor. You would want to speak to a CPA though.

I agree with Marion. The tax laws are different if you're a corporation vs a sole proprietor. You might want to look at the advantages and disadvantages of both

Very few people in this community would be qualified to give you financial advice. We don't know your personal circumstances or even the tax laws where you live. If you need business advice then you'll be better served if you consult an accountant in your own locality.

Hey Marion,

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I appreciate your opinion.

I don't think I explained my thought enough. I am going to take care of the business details with my accountant...I may chat with an attorney as well.

I'm curious to see how many people jump in and start working on their websites and affiliations right away. And, how many wait to set get the business end of things in place before getting started.

What are your thoughts on that?

I'm very grateful to be apart of this community. It's amazing how helpful and supportive everyone is.

Thank you,
