If you make the product and you know it can cause harm or side effects then you must disclose this otherwise if you're just selling the item the product producers are responsible for disclosing that information but you need a disclaimer to release you from liabilities because you're an affiliate. You do not have to disclose your commission because the disclaimer covers all that.

So here goes : You “disclaim” or “deny” liability for the content you publish on your blog.

So an example of one I use if needed in context of an article is "I am not medically trained so if in doubt see a medical professional. This is my personal experience"

A disclosure is where you reveal all the necessary information to your visitors regarding a product or service, so they can make a well-informed decision. This includes your affiliate relationships under the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) where you are required to disclose to your visitors any financial rewards or commissions that you will receive if someone clicks on your affiliate link to make a purchase.

You will depend on your aff partners for product sales so I think that bit is covered. Its if you are suggesting a course of action that could potentially lead to harm I guess. If it is clear you are writing from personal experience that is a good cover. The best one is "always check the label before use" . Its very vague to be fair for most things.

Hi Abie, The difference between a disclaimer and a disclosure is easily confused due to the similar sounding names. A disclaimer looks to avoid particular liability, like a user taking website information as legal or medical advice. A disclosure is the revealing of the information.

Hope this helps.

Hi Abbie, I have both on my site, the disclosure because I sell products, and a disclaimer as my niche is in health so I need to protect myself. I am not very fond of big pharma so I do list herbal alternatives.

Best wishes,
Michael
