I've uploaded quite a number of images onto my website but there are a few feature images which just won't appear after I've uploaded them. I've even tried resizing them.
What could be the problem?

had that problem too. I chose a different theme (if you are using wordpress)

Sue how have you resized them, I use to find resizing photos in my photo editor only sometimes worked. I now use this free resizer and it works without fail every time http://www.picresize.com/ now I never have trouble with photos uploading.

I'm not sure it works, but you can try to insert the image in "text" (html) tab, then press preview without going back to "visual".
