When I view my website, it's just a generic looking design for Word Press, not the design I chose. What did I do wrong?

Yeah most people choose a theme based on how the "demo" looks. I did it before and it gave me a headache. I recommend you go with a very basic and simple looking theme as they are easier to work with and will not have you thinking that you chose the wrong design. You will have to add your content, images, and a logo, which will give your site an entirely different look than what you see with the demo. I also wouldn't focus too much on the look of your site just yet unless you have enough content to fill it out. That way you can move things around and have a better feel for your overall site.

I'll keep working with it. The "demo" is pretty simple, but doesn't even appear. So what's the use of picking out a demo if you can't see it?

Same here can't get any sense out of support!

go to appearances- then customize and from there you can change things and save the changes

Thanks Vicki,

I'll keep working with it. :(

When you choose a theme, the demo usually has some customization and what not. If you want it to look like the Demi, you need to import the demo content and then customize it to your needs.

Hi,
Thanks for the advice. Next question, how do you import the demo? I thought I did that already when I picked it out?

Thanks, Greg

It depends on the theme...can you tell me what theme you chose?

You need to customize your theme. When you choose a theme, it can only add whatever you have on your website to it. It won't look exactly the same as the website demo you looked at. Which is actually good. You want it to be customized for your site and your content.
