Today has been rather strange, the images on my site comes and goes.

One minutes they are there and the next the are gone!

This happens to different browsers, Expl

Thank you for your question Gerald, and I think maybe it is something that you need further help with like site support. So far no one else is experiencing this issue.

Thanks for your response Linda, cheers!

that is strange mine seems fine hope if it still keeps happening might be worth asking site support

Thank you Katie, cheers!

Haven't had an issue yet.

Thank you Frank, cheers!

No here so far!!

Good to hear, thanks.
Cheers!

Not here Gerald, it's running smoothly. The only thing I've noticed is low traffic from WA side since yesterday and also delayed. Pio

That's great Pio, except for the slow traffic, cheers!

Will i been on it for about 3hr nd had no problems. It got to on your side

Guess so, thanks!
Cheers!

I read the replies, when you have highspeed internet and never experienced it before, I presume it's the surfer, they probably be working hard on it right now. I would wait a day, before getting everything up side down at your side

Will do, thank you Loes.
Cheers!

I experienced disappearance of images as well but in a different way. My older posts' images disappears from my site as well from the wordpress image folder or storage (I forgot the name :D).

Thanks, did you resolve it eventually?
Cheers!

Many times I get this and it is the interconnect connection - If I am doing things here in Lithuania all ok but as soon as I go to the WA site everything goes so slowly things drop in and out and it is really hard to do things and sometimes I have to leave what I am doing until traffic slows down

Thank you Paul, that surely is frustrating!
Cheers!

I know that this may happen with slow connection. In that case only alt text appears in the place of an image. This is one of reasons for having alt text.

Thanks Jovo, I have high speed internet and it's only happening today!
Cheers!

I want to redirect a page URL to another Page URL.

Ex. redirect www.domain.com/product1 to

I dont't know anythiny about it.

OK thanks, cheers!

Hi Gerald, I'm not sure if it will work, but there is a Wordpress plugin called "Pretty Links" that may do the trick. I used it in the past and it did what I needed. It might be worth a try. Good luck.

Thank you Nathan, cheers!

Thanks, Gerald. I've bookmarked this discussion for future use, since I'm working on getting a second site up and running.
Barry

You are welcome Barry, cheers!

Gerald, I have been using a plugin called "Quick Page/Post Redirect" that works for me. For your example, create a page on http://domain.com named product1 - it can be empty. Below the content box you will see a the options for redirect. Make redirect active and paste http://www.domain03.com/product3 in the destination URL field.

That's it!

Hope it works for you.
Tom

Sounds great Tom, I will have a look later and let you know, cheers!

I had a WP site previously and I just went to the admin section and it gives you the redirect option at the cost of $13 as long as you own the domain name of both sites. My old url at www.letcopyhoundtellyourstory.com now goes automatically to my new site through WA freelancewithcopyhound.com and it took me 5 minutes to switch it over this morning. Hope this helps.

Thank you for sharing. I believe that will direct anyone typing in the domain name, I don't know if that will direct the full extension of my link as there will not be any matching link on the other site unless there is a way for me to tell where it should go for each link.
Rationale: I have a Facebook PPE ad that I have been running with lots of engagement 3000+ Likes, 300+ comments, & 300+ shares. I am using a new site and if I change the link address on the ad Facebook will take away all the Likes etc.
Cheers!

My FB did not change but old posts now go to the new domain. I just know the redirect I did was very simple but I had already imported my old site into the new one before I did the redirect.

Thanks, I will look into that tomorrow, cheers!

Hi grand ma, how did you import your old site into the ne w on? Is it like changing themes...

You go to your import/export feature in the old site and export a file to your own computer. Then you go into the WA site and go to the import feature. It will ask you to select the file to import from your computer. Just click on the file like you would an attachment. It will convert it to whatever theme you are now using and then you may need to go back and adjust menus to correspond to the new theme. If you can find your own theme in the WA site you should change that before the import. I had the Canard theme but now have 2016. When I imported from Canard to 2016 I had to adjust my menus as Canard allowed 3 menus and 2016 only 2 menus. You'll have to play around with it a bit. Good luck.

You go to WP admin and then to domain management.

Oops, not good enough yet, Gerald, sorry! Someone else will pop up soon.

Anyone has good or not so good experiences selling into these sub-niches?

1. bicycle

2. dogs

3. guitar

I am building a physical products general store s

Gerald,

Interesting niches- see lots of future for content!
I am still building my Wealthy Affiliate site so no experience for you!
Good luck going forward.
Happy New Year
Sami

Thanks, cheers!

No experience what so ever and still waiting to make my first sale!!!

Thanks Paul, guess you are focusing on digital products mainly, cheers!

I have no idea,

Thanks, cheers!

No not me. I don't necessarily think bikes or guitars are necessarily sub-niches.
Ed

Thank Eds, I will let you know if I get anywhere with those, cheers!

Ed you're right. A sub-niche could be folding bikes. For all the car owners it can be very useful to have one in the trunk when they go downtown.

That's true! There are quite a bit of people who use them. I know some people use them for fitness but others use them because that's all they have to go from point A to point B.
Thanks,
Ed

Not me, sorry Gerald

I had 5 different auto blogs on bicycles at one time, but the only two I ever sold anything on were devoted to recumbent and hybrid bikes. Of course I didn't belong to WA then, so they would have done better if I had followed this plan of things.

Thanks for sharing, cheers!

I've seen several who have opened up niche site under each category. Not sure how well they are fairing though. Sorry,One of them I have seen recently is careforanolderdog or something like that.

Thanks Debra, cheers!

Currently I have 40MB WP memory limit, how do I increase it to 64MB? Thanks!

Where do you see that even?

I had to look it up on Google to understand php limit. It has to do with RAM. So, you asked a good question. I learned something from your question.
Ed

Thank you Ed, cheers!

The limitations are set there for a reason, there should be no reason to need more memory than what our upper end is set at and if there is, you are likely going to jeopardize the quality of the hosting and the performance of your own websites because the plugin/theme that requires that is very "memory intensive".

Thank you Kyle, cheers!

A theme that WA offers in asking that the memory be increased. Shouldn't support be able to fix this? It is theme for dummies. Either that or don't offer it. They have me in save mode until it is increased.

I learned from the responses to your question. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks, cheers!

It isn't like the old days. Do you remember partitioning and the himem.exec application to make less work more?

Thanks, cheers!

Hi Gerald - within WA hosting, you don't have any control over that I'm afraid.

The limits are set so that everyone has an equal hosting environment, and no-one gets more memory, or processor power than anyone else (as we all pay the same, I understand that).

Cheers, Mark

Got it, thanks Mark, cheers!

I am trying to use Dropbox to backup, it's over 2 hours still not done. Which one is the fastest you can recommend? Thanks!

It's great you are backing up your website, but it's one of the benifits of being a premium member of WA that your website will be backed-up every 2 days. To remember this for your own piece of mind, you can always call on WA support in case of emmergency.

Thank Loes, when I work on something I save very often, since I don't do much better save everything I do, right! Cheers!

Gearld I just go into my dashboard and on the left you'll see tools. I clcik on that and everytime I post or close to it I export all my files and save them in a folder. That way IF I lose my site all I have to do is import it and it's all right there. pics, comments, articles everything. I've even tested it to see if it works and it does. The good news is that is a free fix.

Thanks, I'll have a look, cheers!

I wrote a post on this not to long ago :)

Great Garen, that was probably before i join WA. I'll have a look, cheers!

Hello My favorite is Duplicator It stores your files to your computer

Thanks, I will have a look at that, cheers!

The fasted restore from backup is to ask WA Website support to restore from their daily backup, in case something really bad happened. Other than that, I just do an EXPORT every time I finished working on the site.

John

Thank John, cheers!

A better question could be "Which backup plugin works". The most reliable way to backup your site is via FTP but if you're not comfortable with FTP then BackWPup works but even that is a bit complicated to get the files down to your computer. Make sure to deactivate it when you've finished the backup.

Thank you Marion, with all the details as always, awesome, cheers!

Filezilla, I do believe is free to download

Thanks, I will do that then, cheers!

This one's $7 but it's supposed to be fast.

Great, I 'll have a look, fast is important to me, cheers!

If you want to use a plugin: Backup Buddy Plugin.

Yes!

Filezilla :-)

Hi,

I think thoroughly that there is no better way to backup your site as with a decent FTP client like Filezilla...
The chances that you have some corrupt file copies are, I think, lower than with a plugin that is used and also is backuped at the same time...

Unless you really need a plugin for a specific reason, I would really recommend to stick with the old-fashioned FTP client...

Grtz,
Bert

Thanks, I will look into that, only reason I pick a plugin is they are free, cheers!

Hi, You can find Filezilla here https://filezilla-project.org/download.php
Actually, it is also a free tool and recommended during the WA courses...
