H1 Tag Not Found In My Generate Press Theme

OMG My SEO says I don't have any H1 Tags on any of my pages!!!

I would normally tell you not to panic like everyone else would tell me but it happens to be quite important. If you don't have H1 in your header as well as the title for each one of your pages, Google doesn't know where your front door is. Maybe not even interested in being invited inside.

The bad news is there are lots of people with this problem and everyone has an answer that is part right and part wrong when it comes to the Generate Press Theme.

The Generate Press Theme is so simple to use so we all use it right? Don't push the wrong button though...lol. By the wrong button, I mean this one here...

If you use a pic for your logo, and you hide the site title
right here because it looks like poo on your site...it will hide all of the H1 tags on your entire site. You will have a hard time being indexed if this happens.

You can check to see if you have h1 on each title to your (Live Site) pages by highlighting the title on the page. You must first open the blog page where it says "read more." Otherwise, it will say h2 if you are on a home page because the h1 is the home page title. right-click and select inspect...you will see h1 if it is there.

I would have done this in a training vid but I haven't been here long enough lol...anyways, I hope this helps someone, it almost had me defeated...lol.

Love to all

Glenn

Hi Glenn,
This is my issue, since forever! Bing keeps telling me I am missing an H1 tag, and I do not know how to fix it. I have ignored this issue for a while.

I am only using a logo, and have hidden my site title and site tagline.

I will use your advice and inspect my blog posts for an H1 tag, but if there isn't, is there an easy fix? I do not want to add my site title or tagline.

For 2 months I wrapped my titles with

and it looked like poo on my social sites.

If you are using Generate Press, the hidden title is the problem for all of your pages. It will fix all of them at once.

Make sure you first open the blog page where it says "read more." Otherwise, it will say h2 if you are on a home page because the h1 is the home page title. right-click and select inspect...you will see h1 if it is there.

Let me know if you need anything else :-)

Glenn

Thanks Glenn.

Thank you for this wonderful explanation
I found it very helpful

You are welcome :-) It took me a long time to figure it out. A lot less time to make sure that one of the family didn't have to...lol

Awesome
