Distractions, distractions, distractions!

Over the past 2 months, I have allowed so many distractions to creep into my life, from my church responsibilities to family drama’s, and home renovations to Politics! I’m so intrigued with the US Presidential Race that I just can’t stop watching it ... and I’m in New Zealand! However, it’s been at the expense of my primary goal to build an online business.

Anyway, for those of you who have as much trouble as I do fighting off the temptations and distractions, this is for you.

Overcoming distractions:

  1. Establish a daily routine … write it down!
  2. Turn off Smart phone notifications at set times during the day;
  3. Check and reply to emails twice a day;
  4. Turn off TV at set times during the evening;
  5. Aim to write at least one page of website content three times a week;
  6. Declutter your workspace;
  7. Maintain a healthy diet;
  8. Exercise at least 5 days a week;
  9. Don’t get “caught up” in family drama’s or anybody’s drama;
  10. Reward yourself every week.

We all face distractions every day, but if you re-pattern your thinking, there's no end to what you can achieve.

I'm struggling with point 5.

Point 5 is a goal I've set for myself. When I put my mind to it I can easily write a page in less than an hour. Thanks for commenting :-)

I'm living about 8 of these Gaylene.

Great! I started today.

These are very good. Thank you.

You're welcome :-)

I hear you, have similar unplanned distractions. I allow 1 to 2 hours a day on my to do list for these. I like your checklist, thanks.

You're welcome, thanks for the comment

Hi Gaylene they are all around us, for sure becoming aware is half the battle, some really good advice and tips thank you.

You're welcome. Thanks for the comment :-)

I have a similar problem. Perhaps many of us do. Thanks for the advice and insight. As far as the presidential race is concerned I don't get too excited about it. Remember that the US has a system of checks and balances. The President does not have absolute power. The Senate and the Congress have to agree on major decisions. A President could be powerless if he or she can not get approval from those two bodies. Don't worry about any sweeping changes taking place.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I wish all the citizens of the USA all the best :-)

My biggest distraction now is my Emails. They keep pilling up each day as I continue to read and sort them out.

I'm the same, I get a notification and like "clock work" I check those emails, but I'm going to be more disciplined. Thanks for the comment :-)

Great advice thanks,

Thanks :-)

I envy your geographical distance from our sad presidential race. Nice post Gaylene:)

Hi Brad, I'm the opposite, I'm almost tempted to get on a flight to Washington DC to experience your election. I wish your Country all the best. Thanks for commenting :-)

Identifying the problem is half the battle. I am always distracted, but this will really help. Thanks

Hi Adam,

You're so right, but they say some distraction is healthy ... can't win! Thanks for taking the time to comment :-)

No problem at all. My pleasure
