What Is The Best Social Media Platform For Our Business?

With so many social media platforms out there and new ones being created, I'd like to know what people think is the best social media platform for business.

I use Twitter, Pinterest, Google+ and some Facebook, although I've been a bit reluctant to use Facebook because I know I really need to set up a proper page to make the best of it.

I love Twitter because it's always quick to post to and I've been steadily increasing my followers by posting links to my own niche site blogs which seem to have gained more likes and retweets than anything else.

I really like Pinterest but am I finding it harder to get followers on there even though I post a link to all my blogs and fill in my descriptions with keywords. I've only got 1 extra follower in ages.

Google+ seems to be a good one for me and I am again steadily increasing my followers on there too but I think this is down to a few other WA members +1-ing my posts.

Facebook as I say, I've been a bit reluctant to set up properly but it's something I really need to address.

I'd love to get your feedback on what people think is working for them.

This may vary with niche and subject mater and I know there are many other tools out there that people use, so it would be good to get your thoughts on what is working for you best in this business.

All the best.

Every blog post I write I share on Google plus, Twitter, Pinterest and my Facebook fanpage

Great. Do you get much traffic back from them?

Yes, mainly Pinterest and Google Plus. Plus the benefits of extra SEO from Google Plus

Plus, it's not just traffic, but the social media backlinks that are important

That's a good point that I had forgotten. Thanks Ralph.

I use Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, and Twitter, but I'm fairly new so don't have a lot of followers on any of them yet.

I always post new articles to Google+, and I have done the most on Twitter lately just because I enjoy it more and am getting more followers. But I believe that social media can be very valuable and will be putting more time into it over the next couple months.

Janelle

Thanks Janelle. Thanks for sharing and glad to hear you are getting started on these. Would love to hear how you get on collecting followers in the future too. Gail

I actually get a majority of my traffic from FB:). I've tried Google+, but it doesn't seem to work for me for some reason???

Thanks Suzi. I think that to make things work, you need to dedicate quite a lot of time to social media but I think the jury is out on whether it it really worth it. Just my personal opinion. I wonder how much better I'd do if I just spent the time writing more posts for my sites.
:)

Although I have a facebook account it is set up for personal use. So like you I will have to look into setting up a business page.

Derek

I have set up a business page but I do not like facebook and am looking else where for social media.

Ok Thanks

Derek

Thanks Derek. I need to do that too as my personal FB page is really for friends and family and I don't want to spam them.

I am just so uncomfortable with social media that it is holding me back and I have not had any luck with twitter or google plus I am not a social media person and I wish I had the money to outsource because it would be the first thing I would do is outsource social media. Do you have any tips for me so that I can go out there and start making my mark?

Hi Jill. I can understand that you are uncomfortable with social media as I am getting used to it. But I do trust what Kyle and Carson say here so I think it's worth trying to find one that you are least uncomfortable with and focusing on that one.
I do like Twitter and I know a lot of people use Pinterest because on these you are really just putting up links to your blogs.
However, I'm not sure if this is the best strategy so I'd read other's responses too as I'm learning here too.
:)

Hey Jill,

Knowing EXACTLY how you feel, I think I can help you. First off... NEVER discuss politics or religion on social media. Stick to upbeat stuff if you want to remain on the good side of MANY followers.

Think of your tweets this way...
You're emailing a friend this awesome blog post you just wrote. You wouldn't simply drop in the URL and click send, right? Of course not... you would state the reason you're sending them the URL to your post.

That is ALL you need to remember when sharing your blog posts in social media. Oh... and be sure to share other things like cute videos... or... a quote.

Don't just simply offer links to posts. That way your followers will know that you have not automated your social media.

Hope you find this helpful.

I would simply take Jays advice and just post each of your blog posts on Google plus for an extra SEO boost

This sounds like great advice. Thank you.

You may want to consider using Instagram and Facebook

Thanks Juan.
Gail

Hi Gail,

Personally, I think Facebook has too much control, although, plenty of people are having success with FB,

Actually, I came off a branding webinar today where a couple of ladies have got 800 customers for skim care since March through different campaigns but their main focus is on Branding through various social media.

I think that Linkedin will be the place to be. They are doing plenty of Education through their platform and people are mainly there for business. They have really improved their platform over the last couple of years.

Warmest Regards
Ray Blee

Thanks for your input Ray. I do have a LinkedIn profile but it was created for a completely different business so I may need to re-evaluate that.

One of the issues I face sometimes I think is that I have different 'faces' as it were for different niches. They are all me but I think it can confuse things sometimes when my affiliate marketing followers get things about raising your vibrational energy! LOL.

Oh well, I'm sure I'll figure it out but it's good to get feedback from others.

Gail

I use all of them Gail.
Facebook page is not that difficult to set up once you get the hang of it. I have created ten's of those pages across my 4 accounts (ha ha), most of them are now abandoned. :)
Agree that social media is important to any affiliate marketing.
Thanks for sharing.

Joe

Thanks for your insight Joe. I'll try to set up a FB page soon although I wonder why you have abandoned yours - is it just through lack of time? Did they bring you any success?
Gail

Most of them were created before I joined WA and during that time I had joined so many programs ended up I created so many FB Pages. Some of those pages are still active and I have pages with great numbers of followers.

:)
Joe

OK that sounds encouraging. Thanks Joe.

Hi Gail.
Firstly I have to say I love your little very intelligent mouse. I want one.

Ok, for it has to be Facebook but i'm posting my blogs to loads of already tried and tested veggie/vegan uk pages. My own page that I created did very little and now having seen how many others there are out there already, I totally get why.

I created the Twitter, Pinterest, Google Plus and Instagram pages, although we were never told in the training to do Instagram so many here have said it works. I just need to remember to add to it regularly which I forget. Must add it to my 'creating a blog' list.

I've all but given up on all but Facebook but I think you're right it probably does depend on the niche and I also feel it depends on who you are aiming at and where abouts they are in the world.

The social media question is a biggie and I look forward to hearing what others say about this one.

Well done on asking the question, I've been meaning to do it too.

Sue

Hi Sue.

Thanks for your comments and feedback. Interesting about your Facebook response and I look forward to hearing how others have got on with these too. I do like Twitter although it's slow. I know others who use an automated poster and they say that works for them.

You can get an animated name gif at https://www.picgifs.com/

Or see Loes link: too.

Hi Gail,
As yet have not got onto social media, though this is likely to happen in the very near future as I need to pick up some followers. Having read your comments think that I might start with twitter, Facebook has always bothered me. Suppose as long as I can start to get people interested it does not really matter.
Stuart

Thanks Stuart. It took me a while to do social media too but I think it is important for us so looking forward to seeing people's replies too.
