Wealthy affiliate: it's a numbers game
OK so just a quick reminder today about how we can make money here at WA
NUMBERS!
The more posts you write, the more potential you have for traffic to your site and the more potential you have for income.
SIMPLE!
Let's take a very conservative estimate here:
If 1 post can generate 1 click per day, that is approximately 30 clicks per month on your site.
5 posts with the same potential = 150 clicks per month
10 posts = 300 clicks per month
50 posts = 1500 clicks per month
100 posts = 3000 clicks per month!
And that is if each post only generates 1 click per day.
What if your posts could generate 2, 3, 5, 10 clicks per day?........
Traffic means income - from whatever source:
- affiliate links
- advertising
- email subscribers
- sales of your own products
You see, it really is a numbers game.
What income would you potentially see with 3000 clicks per month, or 300,000?!
Get posting! The only way is UP!
Have a great day.
Gail
PS. UPDATE TO THIS POST:
Thanks to Steven and Kyle who pointed out below that it is not just numbers that matter, but QUALITY too, which I do totally agree with. So when I say "if your post can generate 1 click per day", that is kind of implied that you should be writing posts that are worthy of a click at all! Have fun writing!

Thanks Gail!
Do we have a warm weekend, bank holiday weekend even! Not been here for a bank holiday in years!!
Wayne
Yes, a warm, sunny bank holiday weekend! Just a quick thank you if it was you who brought the sun. We had almost forgotten what sunshine was like.
Isabella
Could I have brought some of that Malaysian warmth to my own Country and contributed to cutting down on everyone's energy bills for a few days! Lol
I will certainly make a point of enjoying it on May Day today!
Have fun Isabella!
Wayne
Thanks Gail
That's the nicest thing anyone has ever called me! Lol
I will enjoy my little quota of this warmth today!
Wayne
I will write a blog about this because I'm struggling with this quantity focus and I'm not so sure I agree with the common wisdom which you advance in your blog.
Read this as a thought piece and not a rant please.
I keep reading this quantity logic here at WA but the reality of social media and the Internet seems somewhat different to me.
Let me explain. If I throw 100 darts at the dart board yes I have a better chance of hitting a bulls eye than if I only throw 10. Yup, I get that.
But in writing quality and relevance are important. One great post on a topic of relevance that resonates with a lot of people will get more clicks than 10 or 20 posts that are not so relevant and do not resonate. For lack of a better analogy this more like gardening with knowledge to growing beautiful flowers than throwing darts and hoping we hit the mark.
Let's ask ourselves why some things on social media and the Internet "go viral" and strike a chord resonating with so many people. Isn't that what we should be trying to identify and address in our specific niche to achieve success?
I read too many blogs about the number of words people can write rather than about the quality of their words. And, too many blogs about the number of articles people can write in a week or a month rather than the questions they have identified and can answer to help others learn something, or fix something, or find the answer to a question they have in mind.
I remember reading one blog about a website with 500 posts! Wow. Amazing. But the website had low traffic and no - zero - conversions. What good is that? Good therapy and keeping you busy maybe. Earning an income, not so good.
I know and agree we have to write and publish to establish brand and authority. But shouldn't we also be talking about quality and relevance over quantity and speed?
Again, please accept this as thoughtful response to encourage spirited discussion and not as a rant.
PS my apologies in advance if I offended anyone
Nothing offensive there, you swine.
Don’t some say smarter thinking, Quality material and tried and tested training - or was that me just making things up?
Quality and Quantity then? Still playing the numbers game.
Thanks
Wayne
That' just you wanting to hear yourself speak. :)
You know when I was doing my research on website building software I ran across a number of sites that were clearly using a format to hit the numbers. But the content was at best mediocre and it was not helpful. I scanned those posts in about 10 seconds an was on to the next. I'd rather have 5 good and helpful posts than 12 just to hit Kyle's arbitrary number.
Just me, not saying others should do the same. But I think in the long range this will pay off and have more longevity. Who knows.
Maybe you will long outlast me. [tragedy for me]
Time for more coffee and I need to get some real work done.
Hi Steven
Firstly, thank you for your insight and I agree with Wayne in that there is nothing offensive in your comment. Good for your for raising an issue that I also happen to agree with.
I TOTALLY AGREE that our blogs should be about QUALITY too. I also totally agree that there are loads of mediocre sites and blogs out there that are generating no traffic and are not benefiting anyone because they do not answer a basic need for their reader, be that information, education or entertainment.
I think we are both singing off the same hymn sheet if you read my sentence "1 post can generate 1 click per day". That is where the test really is, in the 'IF'.
Within that, is the assumption that people can write quality posts that are capable of generating traffic and answering people's needs. If you can't do that, you will not make it as an online blogger/affiliate marketer. You may make it as an online shop keeper, but that is a different story.
Therefore you're right - quality posts equal traffic too. And that is why it is so great here at WA because that is what is encouraged.
At least, that is what I see being encouraged. I don't believe we are encouraged to write rubbish and that's certainly not what I read when I review articles or leave comments.
Undoubtedly some will struggle, but I believe that the majority of people here write well and will succeed.
After that, I do believe it is a numbers game as well.
Thanks for your insights and hope you have a great day.
Great discussion! Thanks
Gail
Me and that obsession to want to hear myself! Lol
I would only expect Quality from you Steven, whatever the numbers! There is no one rule for all.
I think it's not helpful if someone is busting there ass to meet numbers, if all that is churned out is trash! Certainly, not helpful to the individual or probably not anyone in fact! What a stressful existence that would be!
If you are gifted with experience, ethics and therefore able to produce and promote quality, this is what we should all be aiming for.
Short, punchy, quality posts, with the occasional longer post on a really popular topic sounds strategic to me. I am not sure what organizational body that would work for, gooogle, woodle, moodle or doodle but it sounds like a plan for me.
Bank Holiday and sunny in the UK - time to enjoy!
Have a fantastic one Steven!
Wayne
I think we are all on the same page, just some different tweaks in our own styles and to suit our own websites.
QUALITY Stuff!
Wayne
Perfect. Looking good in the UK too AND we have a bank holiday this weekend. Don't want to tempt fate though so better change the subject! :)

I've been running my new site for about a month and still not had any sales yet, but I'm posting around 3 - 4 times a week so hopefully I'll start seeing those sales.
With the numbers you have put up in your post, the income potential is amazing.
Thanks for sharing, made my day.
Tom
Great work Tom. Having a site for a month is still very, very new so don't panic. I didn't see real potential for a few months but don't worry - it really is there but it takes time. I think we should all thing of this business as a minimum of 6 months, if not a year. Magic things happen at the 6-8 month mark. All the best. Gail
Thanks Gail,
Put my mind at ease.
