Thought for the week: Helping others

John Bunyan, the celebrated 17th century English minister and author of "A Piglrim's Progress" is quoted as saying:

"You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.”

Whilst this post is not intended to be religious in any way, it is intended to pose a thoughtful question for WA members to consider as we come to the end/start of another week..

Have you done something like this today?

Helping others allows us to grow as people, to develop our own knowledge and to then to help others in an area of life (be it helping someone to cross the road, cooking someone a meal or helping a colleague at WA with a problem).

The challenge in the quote above is to do something to help someone else without expecting anything in return. Many people do that here at WA on a daily basis, and I'd like to say a big 'thank you' to all the amazing people here who do that, because it makes this community a very special place to be.

So, what are you going to do today or this week which allows you to 'live' in the way John Bunyan was describing?

I'd love to know in the comments, and wish you all a wonderful time today.

Gail

My good lord is there no end to your shine, you disappear making me wonder where you've got to and then hit me with a very enjoyable read, I genuinely admire very much the light hearted but serious intent of your sentiments which make me sit up....lols and today you radiate with the sunshine of your brilliantly evident kind soul.

Would it please you if I said that the basis on which you have recently offered are tenets that I have lived by all my life and not a week. Keep on keeping brilliant soul keep on keeping! ;

Ah, thanks Rami. Your words are very kind too and much appreciated. My 'disappearances' are only usually when my offline life takes over and I have to sort out my 'real' life, children and other jobs.... I'll be back though... :)
Have a lovely weekend. Gail

That is a nice question you have posed. If we all try this assignment, the platform will be uplifted to another level.
