The charge of the 600 would-be super wealthy affiliates (and the rest.)
Half a page, half a page,
Half a page onwards
Into the "valley of death"
Rode the six hundred
Google to the right of them
Yahoo to the left of them
Into the "valley of death"
Rode the six hundred.
Flashed all their verses bare,
Need to catch the eyes that care,
Laying out their writer's fayre
While everyone wondered.
Who would the 'chosen' be?
Fifteen, five or only three?
Into the "valley of death"
Rode the six hundred.
Haunted now by every post
Who could prove they want it most?
Now is not the time to coast
Onward and upward.
They that had fought so well
Saw their numbers rise and swell
Would these comments never quell?
More than six hundred.
Half a page, half a page,
Half a page onwards
Into the "valley of death"
Rode the six hundred
Google to the right of them
Yahoo to the left of them
Into the "valley of death"
Rode the six hundred.
Or so they hoped ....... actually it's now about 734 at last count.....going to be an interesting week!
Just a bit of fun - Hope you all have a great week and good luck in the draw!

100 years ago was the last charge of a light horse brigade. They say it turned the tide in the 1st World war. 800 Australian men and horses walked 3 days across the desert with little food and water.
Over the ridge they charged on the town defended by 2000 men at top speed to food and water. Defenders were taken by surprise.
Vere few men and horses were killed.
Interesting facts Tom, thanks. I know this poem because my dad always used to quote it so when it popped into my head early today, I think it must have been a prompt from him! :) Have a great day and thanks for posting. Gail
Thanks Chrissie - I have quite a mischievous nature and life has to be a bit of fun doesn't it otherwise it all gets a bit heavy?! :) Have a great day.
Thanks Mike. At least the higher ground will keep us out of the mud fight! :) .I'll have to cultivate a moustache to be truly historically authentic though but that could be easier than being chosen for the group! :)
I love it!!!
You are going to turn me into a lover of poetry. Well done. Now I'm in the mood to read more poetry with a modern twist.
Thanks Sondra - there's plenty of great poetry all around if you look. I love poetry and don't read half as much as I should but every time it comes to my attention, I appreciate the skill that people have with words. Have a great day and good luck in your search. Gail
