Street Theatre, Charity Shops & Jelly Fish: Family Time Is Important
I just spent a wonderfully enjoyable day with my close family and just wanted to say that sometimes you have to remind yourself why we are all doing this "online business thing", and get out there and spend that quality time with your loved ones.
We have just started the summer-time school holidays in the UK and instead of doing my usual 'let's spend the first week tidying up after the term', I decided to collect my children from their half day yesterday, and head straight up to my mum's house in Northampton to spend the weekend with her and my older sister, who has a birthday next week.
OK, it took us 4 hours to get there in the Friday traffic for a journey that can be done in 90 minutes, but we got to my home town by 6pm, well in time to have a lovely carvery meal out, get frustrated by the lack of WiFi signal at my mum's house, and go to bed before 3am.
(That was just me by the way..........my children and mum went to bed way before that!)
Then this morning we all heading out to a National Trust property in Northamptonshire for a picnic and ended up in a local town called Corby for an arts' festival, where we found some fantastic street theatre, the girls made some arts' and crafts jelly fish (the festival had a water theme), heard some ethic music, went walking in the woods and spent a lovely evening watching some ariel ballet from an artist floating on the lake!
What a great day out.
So whilst I know that in order to make this business work, you need to be consistent and work hard on getting your content done, remember that old adage about Jack and all work, no play.
Family time is important too.
It strengthens bonds, cements relationships and above all is lots of FUN!
We all work hard during the week and sometimes the weekend is the only time we have to work on our business, which I understand. But you also need to take a break now and again to recharge the batteries and make sure you have a good work life balance.
After all, having the ability and freedom to spend more quality time with our families is one of the reasons we are here, right?

Hey Gail,
You are so right about family being important!!! I have spent most of the month of July with a 4 year old because I'm finding it hard to find time to write and keep an eye on her. But I'm also enjoying spending time with her. She will be leaving at the end of July so I will miss her so much.

Hi Elaine. Sounds like you have your hands full but in a nice way. Will be difficult when she goes, but probably a little quieter! :)
It is so good to spend time with family. Life can be a whirlwind, but at the end, those special times is what folks remember. A break and change of routine also helps us return with more focus.
I try to take this advice every day, Gail. It is easy to become consumed by things other than family and friends that we perceive as important.
Slow it down and enjoy people.
