Sunday - a day of reflection before action

I don't know about you but since I've joined Wealthy Affiliate, my life has become rather hectic: I can't wait to get up to my computer every morning and I'm still on it late at night, checking in, writing my blogs, replying to comments, updating social media, doing the training, answering emails.....the list is endless.

I absolutely LOVE what Wealthy Affiliate has given me and I really feel that I have found a place that I can be myself and do the thing I've always wanted to do - write!

I'm so inspired to write what's inside me waiting to be let out that I sometimes foget to sleep and eat!

I've made some great friends along the way and I love checking in with them and their progress. I'm also really fired up about the groups I've joined and the mentoring programs coming up so my motivation is really high at the moment. But I also sometimes feel that I've started the race and I don't want to stop for a water break for fear of getting behind.

So why write a blog suggesting a 'GO SLOW?'

The answer to that is simple - I need sometime to FOCUS: to quiet my mind and make sure that the actions I'm taking are the right ones and that I haven't got caught up on the bandwagon of excitement, taking me down a path I don't want to go, or one that I don't realise will take up more time, than it is worth devoting to it.

You see there is a difference between REQUIRED ACTION, and INSPIRED ACTION and it's easy to get caught up in the things I think of as being 'required actions' - those things I think I should do, whilst all the time I'm missing out on doing the things that may actually take my business to the next level - those are the inspired actions that lead to my efforts being leveraged resulting in amazing results.

For example, I might think I need to answer all my notifications or all my emails, or retweet enough messages to gain me some extra followers, or maintain my rank at WA by answering questions. All of which are good, required actions that are the' bread and butter' of making my online business work and are things that I will get around to eventually.

But in my quietened state, away from the adrenaline-driven, powerhouse moving forward, I might find that my 'inspired action' for the day is to take a walk, which may in fact lead me to a great inspiration for a monster, traffic-generating post; or I may find I'm being called to clear up those papers on the side where I find that important piece of correspondence that I've been looking for all week, which leads me to a reduction in my overall stress; or a may find myself just having a well-deserved rest that rejuvenates my body and soul and prevents me from getting ill.

Who knows? I don't and more importantly, I won't. until I take the time out to listen.

I don't have to be a Yogi; I don't need to be able to contort my body and get my leg behind my head! I just need to allow myself some time out, sit quietly and listen.

So today, I'm going to take a step back, quiet my mind, meditate and focus on the things that will really help achieve my goals in the long term.

That may mean, not commenting on quite so many blog posts, or not spending as much time on social media, or not in fact doing much at all and listening to my innerself that may just say, "you need a rest". I don't know.

I'm not saying don't take action. Action is necessary to move us forward. But I do believe that if I can quite my mind and take some time to meditate, listen to my own intuition (inner being, higher self, or whatever you want to call it); I believe it will lead me in the right direction.

Can you give yourself half and hour today to do the same?

Let me know what you find by leaving a comment below......

Love and light

Gail

I'm right now writing a post about how important it is to give yourself breaks during the day and to not work 7 days a week. Have at least one day off a week. Give your brain time to recharge!!

Tried and true

Elaine

Great Elaine - I'd like to read that when it's finished as I totally agree. When I was growing up, Sundays really were quiet days but life seems to have taken over and everything is now 24/7. What's good to realise is that even if the rest of the world is living like that, we have the choice of whether or not to join in! :) Have a peaceful day. Gail

On my tried and true affiliate.com website is the article called Tips For Work From Home.

The website has no spaces.

Good advice, sometimes we just need to stop and be still. Life can get pretty hectic and we need relaxing time for our minds. - Shirley

Thanks Shirley. Stillness is great sometimes - clearing the mind is a wonderful way to realise what's important. Thanks for taking time out to read and reply. Have a wonderful day. Gail

I have been thinking the same thing Gail. What I do is meditate and let myself totally relax and then....I know this will raise eyebrows...if I start to fall asleep I go with it and head to bed, then wake up, meditate and wait for the inspired voice that is a good feeling inclination to do something....if I get sleepy again (which happens) I head to bed again. During all this, I have to fight off the feeling "I need to be working" guilt-driven action thought which from my experience leads to bad places. I often think about how Winston Churchill advocated full on naps in mid day.
That is pants off, in the bedroom, under the covers sleep in the middle of the day....even during war time I suspect. But there is a danger of not getting anything done so finding the balance is my challenge now. I can feel I am finding a good balance and learning where that is, but its something that really takes a lot of consideration and not getting distracted by social stuff online and IRL. Especially with all this Super Affiliate excitement going on.
Anyway, I think your writing and fantastic websites reflect that you are on the right track with this. Heres to listening for the inspiration! Lets hope it works for us.

Thanks Gordon for taking the time out to read and comment on my post. It is much appreciated and I totally agree with you about having to find the balance. I'd love to take a full on nap during the day but I think our headmaster might have something to say......but then there's the inspiration I need to keep up this blogging lark so I can leave! :)
I do head to bed when I find I myself trying to write a blog post and this comes out...."ddakfdjafofiea lskdajfodiajklfjwklj slkdajf" Then I know it's time for some zzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
Thank you for your kind comments too about my writing and websites - it's always lovely when you know your work is appreciated, so thank you so much. And yes - let the inspiration roll. :)

Who's the headmaster? Kyle? oh oh.

Excellent!

This is not something we would normally contemplate. We've started and now we have to move forward.

But, our bodies need regular rest times and we need to get away from it all.

Thank you for reminding us of this.

Rick

Hi Rick and thanks for commenting. Glad you found it useful. It's important to step back occasionally and reassess. Or even just catch your breath! Have a great day. Gail

You're so right Gail.

Doing everything that needs to get done makes for a very busy life but if we don't make time for space were'e no longer connected to inner wisdom and able to take inspired action.

Regardless of how busy I am, I make time for this, at the start and end of each of my day as well is in the middle whenever I'm feeling overwhelmed.

Sounds like you have it sussed. Great things will come I'm sure. Gail

Hi Gail

I do feel what you say since I joined WA I am also addicted to my computer and phone, being online and follow people in this community, follow lessons and try to be more active in helping people. Currently, I also working fulltime for a big company in the financial sector so currently, I spent all my free time being online. I love to be here, I learn a lot and get a lot of energy. But I also need to step back sometimes and relax and enjoy things with my wife and kids.

Thanks for your great posts and motivations.

You're welcome Stefano. Glad you like them. It's all a matter of balance I think. Thanks for taking the time to comment. :) Have a wonderful day. Gail

Great post, Gail! Very insightful. I do believe balance is key. Making time away from technology and business is something that needs to be scheduled. I've always found that an active meditation like a good workout or a walk is a good way to refresh my brain.

Thanks Wilson. Me too. We all need to recharge and find our focus every so often. There's just too much 'noise' otherwise. :) Have a peaceful day. Gail

Hi Gail. I did take today off, j having worked 18 hrs yesterday. Now my intention was to take a break, but we're actually 2 ppl inside my skin and this other guy just takes over sometimes and my plans just tumble and fall lol.

Haha. Great - the more the merrier in my book! :)

This other guy posted part 2 of the article you commented on for me; Best Saddle-gaited Horse-On the Planet. Part 2. He left adding images to me tho. Lazy bastard that he is! You said you'd like to read the sequel so just thought I'd alert you Gail.

Great Advice

Thanks Jared. Hope you find some time out today too. Gail

Hi Gail A good observation and post. The more time I spend at the computer, the more I find I need to find somewhere to break out and seek a change of environment, usually outdoors. When i return I feel more motivated and refreshed. Best Alan

Sounds good - outdoors is always a good source of inspiration for me too - mostly because my children run around and play and I can actually hear myself think! :) Have a great day. Gail
