Don't look back, except in appreciation

In my everyday life I like to look forward most of the time and focus on where I'm going rather than where I've been. I find this to be a very practical way of going through the world as well because in most cases, if I look in my rear-view mirror, I often see my girls in the back of the car trying to kill each other which causes me to have to intervene with my 'serious and stern' voice! If any of you out there have children, you'll know exactly what that sounds like, and it's not always pretty! :)

That said, there are times in my life when looking back over where I've come from and the path I've trodden can bring me great joy and sense of accomplishment and I find myself in one of those moments as we get some headway into 2018.

I know that this is going to be a pivotal year for me and I can feel many changes bubbling under the surface ready to lead me to a new and better way of life.

So looking back for a second, I can see the massive journey that I've been on in the last few years and I can now consider all the negative things and situations that have gone wrong with great appreciation.

There's no need to go into them here or give them any more energy than they deserve now, but there have been quite a few 'rough times' in the last few years, and in some people's perspective, they think I'm still going though them,. Some like to criticise and judge me, offering their 'if I were you, I'd have done this" or "you should do this" advice. It is always well meant, but would never be the course I'd choose for myself, and that's ok, because from MY perspective, I'm just taking one step at a time towards my own goals and my own success and viewing everything along the way as another rung on the ladder.

So I'm looking back today with massive appreciation for the things I've been through and what I've overcome, because if it wasn't for these things, I wouldn't now be on the road I'm on looking at the view I'm looking at.

So to my mind, there is nothing 'bad' in my life's experience, only great challenges that I've overcome that have led me to where I am now and the person i have now become. And from here, the path ahead looks really good.

What can you look back at in your past and now appreciate for the step-up it gave you, even if it didn't feel like that at the time?

Love and blessings to all

Gail

Just a couple of weeks ago I hit a spot where I could honestly say "Thank You!" for some life experiences, realizing that because of those times I am where I am today--which includes WA!!

Thank you for sharing!
Constance

Glad you managed to find some peace Constance. Forgiving ourselves for the past is the first step to understanding and appreciating it. Thanks for reading and commenting. Gail

Thank you and yes there are moments that I can relate to that have happened. Signing on to WA is one of those moments when you realize that we do not have to stay on your current path. Now after a couple of months and a couple of setbacks, I can tell that this is the right thing to do. Not only for my goals but for personal growth and a deeper appreciation for what we are able to attain. Excellent contribution, many, many thanks.

Thanks Xavier. You're welcome. I'm glad you found WA as it seems to be a home for many of us who feel like you did. I know I have found WA to be an amazing place for personal growth and challenge and I'm loving every minute.

Thank you for your post. I have been able accomplish more in 2 1/2 months through Wealthy Affiliate trying to rank on Google than in the past 10 years through many other programs. I really appreciate your perspective and agree that we should only look back in appreciation.

Thanks Michael. Good to know that you are doing well here. It is the best place by far. All the best to you in the future. Let's look forward now and is all going to be great. :)

I wouldn't be as awesome as I am without trudging through the crap field of the past. lol Seriously though, gleaning through the past certainly gives a heightened appreciation of the present and hope for the future. Peace to you Gail! :-)

Thanks Bob. i'm really excited this year - a few things ending but that's all for the best, and long overdue! Thanks for reading and replying. The day is yours! :)

Meant to add that you are awesome too!

Aw shucks, you're too kind. And you, my friend, are awesome in your awesomeness as well. Peace Gail. :-)

Love and all the BEST for you Gail !
Tom

Ah thanks Tom. And to you. In buckets ..... (perhaps with a spade too since you're near the beach!)

A lovely post that You could have been writing about me. There are no problems, just challenges. I regret nothing.
I have been through many struggles in my life and as you say there are many who think I am still going through them.
Well maybe I am but they are not having my energy. Nothing negative gets in these days. Well maybe for 10 minutes here and there and then it gets kicked into touch.
Onwards as always.
With Grace and Gratitude
Karen

Hi Karen. Thanks for reading. I think we all have things in our past that we've struggled over but as you say, the important thing is to let them go and focus on the positive. As Esther Hicks would say "Everything is always working out for me". Have a wonderful day.
Gail

Hi! Gail,

Congratulate on getting up higher and higher along the tough flights of e-marketing road. I am going to wake up to chase you, just kidding, but I admire your endeavor. Someday, I like to see someone say what I say to you for me. Thank you for sharing.

Best,

Chin

Thanks Chin for reading and replying. Glad to hear from you. Gail

Welcome and keep in touch.

will do

I can see that bubbling energy Gail and love it. BTW that's a beautiful English country side pic!

Thanks Mike. I actually took that one myself. I was going past a local beauty spot one morning and the light and mist were just amazing and so I just had to stop and take some pics. I was rather pleased with them. Gail

So am I Gail! :))

Thanks Mike .- as supportive as ever. Thank you. :)

It may be pivotal but it is just the beginning. You are going to do great things I can tell. This will be a fun journey.
Damo

Indeed Damo. It's already great fun - interacting with wonderful people such as yourself makes it so! :)
