Choose To Be Free: Have a Little Faith In You
Have you heard of a book called "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" by Richard Bach?
This little book changed my life when I read it aged about 15. It tells a fictional story of a seagull called, (funnily enough), Jonathan Livingston, who sets out to follow his own path and become the best seagull ever at flying.
He pushes himself beyond his limits and on into new horizons and possibilities. And all this whilst he is mocked and laughed at by his fellow seagulls who believe he is deluded and that the things he wants to achieve are impossible.
I won't spoil the story for if you have not read it already, then I urge you to do so. It won't take you long - less than an hour, but it may be an inspirational analogy that stays with you forever, as it has with me.
So this post is just a little reminder today about the importance of knowing the special place that YOU hold in the universe and the need for you to stay focused on your own goals.
Don't let anyone else talk you out of them.
Remember:
- You are a unique human being, with unique life-experiences, individual preferences and your own desires and goals.
- It is your right to have these dreams and to make them your own.
- You have a choice about what you do with your life and how you live it.
- And in doing so, you are adding to the magnificence of 'all that is', forever expanding total consciousness towards a better place.
- That's just AMAZING, isn't it?
Whatever else you have in life, and in whatever situation you find yourself in, you ALWAYS have the freedom to choose you thoughts, and thoughts are what eventually turn into things.
No one can take this simple freedom from you. No one, unless you give it away.
As Esther Hicks would say, "you are so free, you can choose bondage". So choose your thoughts wisely, every minute of every day.
Do not be afraid to stand away from the crowd; they do not know what is right for you.
Do not be worried about what the world may say about you; their voices will fall silent by the wayside as you become the wonderful empowered being you are meant to be.
Do not be afraid to uncurl you wings and fly fearlessly into your future.
Forge ahead on you path with courage and conviction and the world will bestow upon you its most beautiful and majestic, infinite blessings. Life is good. Go out and live it.
Do not be afraid: have faith in yourself.
Go out and really live your own life; be FREE.

I remember that book Gail. It has been a long time since I read it. Thanks for sharing, I needed the reminder that we are all created special and created to be creative. Many people give up on their dreams as they get older and accept their lot in life instead of trying new things.
That's why I love WA. Everyone tries to encourage each other. That is how we should live our lives encouraging people instead of running them down. Again thanks for the great thoughts.
You're so welcome. Sometimes we all need that reminder. I agree with you that we should be bringing people up not down too. I think that's why we all love WA so much. It's such a breath of fresh air and a reminder of how the world could be.
Beautiful reminders! ... thanks kindly for sharing.... all the very best for every success... cheerio.... :)
Your post came at a great time as I'm trying to decide what to do about my job. I think I'll go get a copy of that book!

Faith is sometimes in doubt until you look in the mirror and see the
perfect creation that God made.

My dad read me Jonathan Livingston Seagull nearly every night from as early as I can remember.
It is, maybe, the memory that is ingrained the most deeply.
My dad was the living embodiment of Jonathan Livingston Seagull.
Great post, Gail.
Fly your own path,
Haven
Glad you had such a great inspirational dad. My father was also a maverick who taught me many things. Great that we can appreciate them again today. :)
Thanks for reading. Gail
It is great. Far ahead of their time, perhaps?
