Affiliate Marketing Tips: 2 - Using your time effectively

As I go through the content on the Wealthy Affiliate training (I have just completed course 4 and bootcamp stage 1 now), it seems like a good time to make a list of daily activities that could help everyone use their precious time effectively.

Before I start

Before I do ANYTHING in the day, I make sure I am in a positive place with my thinking and my feelings. I like to review my goals, meditate on them and set my intentions for the day so that whatever I do, I am leveraging the power of the universe to help me. This is probably the most important part of the day for me as it can really enhance the results I get.

After that, when I get time to work on my business, I recommend doing the following:

1. Work on writing for at least one post for your website - it might be research or writing or reviewing but everyday I try to do something towards a post. You may not finish it in one day - it may take 2-3 days or more, but at least the majority of the time you spend should be on writing content.

2. Spend some time going through the Wealthy Affiliate training - this is important to keep up to date and I often go back over training because you can get different ideas and points the second (or third) time through.

3. Check all emails and answer any that are important and urgent.

4. Revisit older posts and check affiliate links to make sure they are still relevant and/or up-to-date. Many times, companies update their links and or change things their end so you need to keep your website links up-to-date. Check over time-limited links too and update or remove as necessary.

5. Reply to comments on your website. Try to engage people in conversation whilst doing this rather than just a cursory 'thank you' as this will help with rankings.

6. Spend some time on Jaaxy doing keyword research - this will give you ideas for your next article and insights into how to improve your already-written ones.

7. Check social media sites and reply to comments although be careful not to be distracted by social media. Use it as a business tool and keep the social aspect to the time you have set aside for hobbies and things unrelated to your business.

8. Post any new blogs to social media sites and follow up on old ones. Learn how to check each social media site statistics to see what is working and what is not.

9. Check into posts/blogs on Wealthy Affiliate and leave comments or spend some time on live chat helping others. Again, be prudent with your time here. It's great to help out and chat to friends but your focus should always be on making productive use of your business time. Pay-it-forward by offering help and advice at WA especially in the form of website feedback or comments. This is usually a reciprocated effort so can benefit you because you help others, and also directly benefit your site.

10. Give yourself some time off to be inspired by going for a walk or doing your favourite hobby.

And here are a few things to avoid

1) Avoid putting too much emphasis on your statistics in the first few months as this can lead to feelings of disappointment. You just need to keep working on the important things and leave the stats until later, when you can analyse them with more clarity and understanding.

2) We all love WA and the social aspect of it - but don't let it be the sole reason you login if you want to make your business a success (unless of course that is your goal, which could be a legitimate reason too). Just be aware what your goal is.

3) Don't take notice of other people in your life who question your sanity and reasons for trying to make your business work - there will be many of them. Stay focused and true to the reasons you joined in the first place and have faith and belief in yourself. Work consistently on your site and then where it is a success, you can engage in conversations with those negative people (who will now have a different attitude towards your business for sure).
