Wow! Where does the time go?

It's hard to believe, but I got my WA 5 year badge today and when I think back to where I was 5 years ago, I can't tell you how much my life has changed.

Five years ago, I remember feeling very lost in my life. I had lost a lot of my self-confidence and was worried about money on a daily basis. Not only that, but I had begun to lose hope that my life would ever get any better.

I found myself trawling the internet for ways that I could improve my situation from home, at times that suited me, which was usually past 10pm, when my children were in bed. I can't tell you how I stumbled upon Wealthy Affiliate, but I did, and like most other people, began reading reviews and looking at what was on offer.

Back then, we didn't have Jaaxy, or the Premium Plus things on offer nowadays, but there was the promise of 2 free websites and training, but more importantly, I found hope for the future.

I wasn't sure how I would be able to afford it, but I went premium on day 2 and completed the core training within the first month. I even became quite addicted to the positive vibe that I found here - positive people who were willing to share their knowledge, give out things for free and oodles of wonderful people to help. I found myself learning lots, eager to grow my business and wanting to share in the success.

I made friends, worked hard on my sites, and in doing so, found a new love of life as I wrote about the things that were most important to me. This inspired my love of writing and I'd soon written over 50,000 words on my sites.

It was really exciting when I got my first referral, disappointing when they left, but I was ecstatic when I earned my first commission. Things were looking up and the best thing was, I was having a ball. I took advantage of the Black Friday offer after a year and moved onto the annual payment schedule, but by that time, I had earned my subscription money, and I have done ever since.

Fast forward 5 years

Five years on and I'm not going anywhere. I love it here. I may not blog every day like I did in the beginning, but I like to think of myself as a regular and I am still learning. In fact, I'm ALWAYS learning on here. Things change so fast it's sometimes difficult to keep up, but I keep adding to my sites, expanding my knowledge and enjoying every minute.

We've been through a lot - lockdown, world crisises

Have I become a millionnaire? No! But my life has changed in so many positive ways, and I credit WA as being one of the main catalysts in that change. It gave me confidence, hope, and I discovered new ways of moving forward, and I used a lot of the skills I have learned here in the real world - and I'm still doing that to this day.

Plans for the future

I'm still working on the millionnaire bit - no.... I'm still working on the multi-millionnaire bit, but I have tripled my income from 5 years ago, got myself out of the financial mess I was in, and gained 2 new jobs in the process. I've also got 2 established sites now and I'm teaching my children the ropes too. I figure that this is a 'job for life' which I can work on from now until I shuffle off this mortal coil...(which I'm hoping is a long way off yet)!

I now have skills that I can use anywhere, at times that suit me, with some capital in the form of my websites that are growing daily. I think that there is no rush, but a calm and steady approach that will pay dividends down the line as it has in the last 5 years, for me. And often, in ways you cannot predict.

So if you are just starting out, or are looking at my 5 year badge, thinking, "bah, 5 years?... you wait until you've done 15 years like me!", then either way, it's time to celebrate, and shout it from the rooftops..... I love Wealthy Affiliate!

Thank you to everyone I've met along the way - for your patience and your wisdom, your advice and insights, your training, questions and encouragement. I feel priviledged to be part of this community, and long may that continue.
