When marketing your website or blog, what do you like best? How do you get the most traffic? What has worked best for you, and what have you tried that you maybe felt wasn't wo

Before looking into paid ads you have to be promoting and selling products that are giving you a good return.

Amazon products, unless you are selling very high price items, are unlikely to give you any return on your investment and so you would be running at a constant loss.

If you have some good e products then you may be able to afford the paid marketing campaign.

Hi Freya, Good Question, First optimize your website Content.
Know your current Traffic Statistics. (Check website traffic often. Create a better (and Documented) Content Marketing Strategy. Write more compelling blog Headlines. Write better content.
Use Eye-Catching photos. Internal Linking (important) Conduct a Content Audit

I hope it help some. much success to your future

that is a ton of very loaded questions! lol!

But its good because it shows your mind is working like an entrepreneur!

Free vs paid traffic is a philosophy thing. Some people only deal with paid traffic, other deal with nothing but free traffic.

Free traffic is HARDER to generate, but pays off better in the long run.

Paid traffic is EASIER to generate, but as soon as you stop paying for traffic, the traffic stops.

Free traffic is ALWAY profitable because... well... it's free.

Paid traffic requires a higher budget because you have to PAY for data while you optimize your campaigns.

Paid traffic you have to worry wtih return on investment or ROI. That is CRUCIAL.

So in my honest opinion, the best traffic is free traffic from google and social media. It takes a while to cultivate, but once google loves you, you can make truly passive income.

Free traffic is always at risk because you are somewhat at the mercy of a massive google update or facebook update to kill your traffic. Luckily, the training here at WA survives Google updates because of the nature of our articles... .good quality, helpful content.

I cannot tell you a dollar amount for paid traffic because the true answer is that it depends. it may cost you $200 or $1000 to find the right targeted traffic while you optimize your squeeze pages and copy on your sals pages (which likely also takes money). It is often better to have a business generating income before investing in ads.

I believe that you can make more traffic and money with Paid ads, but it is constant work. Good campaigns that pay great ROIs tend to get old after a while and then need revamping.

SEO or free traffic takes more work Up Front, but articles you create now can rank for many years. I have articles i wrote 3 years ago that are still generating me money today.

So all in all, if you are here at WA, you are likely in this for the free traffic route. As mentinoed, it takes times initially to get it ramped up, but once the snowball is big enough to roll on it's own, it's pretty passive and you can work on another project building a nother snowball.

combine the two for the greatest effect, once the site is up and running and generating you money, the SCALE it with paid advertisements.

it knwo that was a bit long winded, but it's the best answer i got.

Thank you very much. I appreciate the detailed response.

It was great knowledge it helped me... thank you!!!

how do you set up chatrooms or forums on Wordpress?

Go to Wordpress admin dashboard, click plugins -> add new & then run a search for “chat”.

Hi - try WordPress Messenger Customer Chat Plugin (WPMCCP).

hmmmmm...????

I believe there is a plugin for forum chat - but I would take Trish's advice and contact site support before doing anything else

This is a question for Kyle or Carson to pick their Brain on this

Hey Freya,

You might want to ask SiteSupport if you are allowed to add a forum to your website or not, before actually trying this.

I recommend that you do some searching on forums to see what website owners of forums have discovered. Many complain of spam and have had to shut them down.

Google searching "advantages and disadvantages of installing a forum" (without the quotation marks, of course) will provide you a wide range of posts offering opinions in your search result.

Not sure about a chatroom but if you have a dating website you might want a feature that allows members to chat among themselves for sure.

Again, Google searching "advantages and disadvantages of installing a chatroom" (without the quotation marks, of course) should be able to provide you with lots of input.

Hope you find this helpful.

thank you

Just curious how many niches, websites, and blogs the average WA member has. How long have you been a member here? How many sites do you have, currently? And how long did you t

I only have one. Just joined but better work on it first.

Hey Freya,
I currently have 2 websites which I wish someone would have told me from the get go to only stick with one. But then maybe they did and I just didn't listen.
Oh well, like Robert suggested start with one website and stock it with lots of content (posts), have lots of traffic and get it ready for just maintenance BEFORE you begin another. That may take a year or longer.
Since I have have two websites which I started so close together I'm having trouble filling them with content and everything. I now need to go back to rewrite all the posts, check the keywords, all because I wasn't focused properly on just one website. Lesson has been learned!!

Tried and True

Elaine

P.S. I started in 2017

We joined in late April this year. So far just the one website and we are currently working on content. Goal is to have around five websites because we have lots of interests and niche ideas. We will likely be starting our next site within the next couple of months.
Colette and Philip

I personally have 3 sites with WA.
My goal when I started each one was to have at least 500 articles then move on and create the next site.
500 articles on the 2nd one then move on.
Now I have 3 sites I concentrate on this 3rd one and only tweak the content on my first two now and again.

I gave each site a year or how long it took to publish 500 articles and I have been here since 2014 so I reckon I'm bang on target.
Robert

Wow, congrats! That’s impressive. How did you land on 500? Was that decision based on statistics you read?

No Freya, I just decided it was just a nice round number.
I actually do add articles on them all when I have the time.

I currently have 2 and a 3rd one in development! I've been a member here for a few years now, and I had some experience with building blogs before I came here.

FYI, it's not easy to maintain one blog and everything that goes with it, much less more than one. So, not sure what your experience level is at this point....but if you're new to blogging I would suggest that you just start with one. Stick with it until you get that one going. Then you can add more later on!

Definitely plan on one at a time. I would want the first to be solid, and only need regular maintenance and updating, before moving on to another.

According to GoDaddy, I own a total of 17 domains. of course, some haven't even been started, while others are in various stages. I'm guilty of shiny object syndrome sometimes, you know when you're working on something and suddenly get distracted by something better. I've fallen victim to it many times since starting here in 2009. This is the first year I am finally forcing myself to focus on one site, and get it generating income before moving onto something else.

Your website is yours Freya. No one can tell you what to do with it. not even Google!

Hey Freya,
I don't think it matters but you are missing out on all the awesome features of SiteConent as Trish has pointed out with the link she provided.

Tried and True

Elaine

Thank you!

It's personal preference whether to post it straight to your website or via site-content here in WA. Posting your post through the site-content has a few advantages - (1) spelling and grammar check (2) you easily know if that post has been indexed by looking at the bottom of the saved post in site-content (although sometimes it's not 100% accurate (3) it contributes to your writing stats.

In terms of get the post indexed/ranked, both ways work the same.

Joe

Thank you! That’s what I wanted to know.

The method you choose to post your content to WordPress will not have any effect on your Google rankings. The only thing you will miss out on by posting directly to your site as opposed to using SiteContent is you will not receive the email notifications when your content has been indexed by Google. I too had originally been posting directly to my site and only recently started using SiteContent. It all really comes down to which method you feel most comfortable with.

Hey Freya,

Carson and Kyle worked overtime providing a new, awesome tool to help those who were struggling to create content. That new tool is SiteContent.

SiteContent is part of WA and NOT part of your website. They are two different "tools" (if I might be allowed to call your website a tool).

Here's Carson's introduction for SiteContent: to the community.

Am hoping this will help you understand how SiteContent works.

Hope you find this helpful.

Hi Freya,

No it won't.

Zed
