Proof That We Can Make Some Bucks At This
So I wasn't sure if I would post this or not as the amount is embarrassingly low for the almost two years shown here, but then I have to tell myself that these sales were generated from my old writing website where, honest to God, I had no clue about anything SEO or keyword or ranking or Google Analytics. I was only using that website to basically write a blog and post other writings. Discovering WA was still years away!
Somewhere during the seven years that I had the site I decided I'd like to try and use my writing to perhaps help people solve a problem and thought I'd try my hand at writing an e-book. So two years ago I wrote the first one which was really just an experiment. It's only about 25 pages and now I offer it as a free download on my website. Then I wrote another one, and then two more. (the last two are not really problem solvers - more like creative word art through, poetry and images) However, once I had the 'problem solving' format set up, then it was just a matter of rinse and repeat.
I started from not knowing a single thing about e-book publishing or Amazon or tax laws and WBEN numbers etc. It was all a learning curve and something I wanted to do, but I just kept taking one step at a time. And this in between working part-time and raising a high needs teen who's also a full-fledged empath!
Once each e-book was created, saved in the right format, and book cover complete, I just went ahead and uploaded it to Amazon and went about my life. (the formatting and book cover creation were farmed out to Fivver 'cause I had no time or clue how to do that!)
I was shamefully blase about the whole thing and did not put an ounce of effort into marketing or learning how to create better website traffic.Even when I joined WA last February, my efforts went into creating an entirely different website and I had basically ignored the writing site.
So what is my point you may be wondering....?
My point is, if I can sell some e-books on a very basic Vistaprint website without an ounce of WA knowledge to my name, then imagine what can happen now that I've just migrated that website over here and have almost a year's worth of training under my belt. If I can do this, so can you.
It's small change to be sure, about $100 I think in total with a couple more sales in Dec not yet paid out, but the fact remains that if we want to help others, and we do it through our passions and gifts by providing a decent product or service which helps to solve a problem - then even without any training or the proper tools, it can still happen, albeit on a very small scale.
I hope that in sharing this it has inspired anyone who may be faltering or questioning their passion or why they haven't had a sale yet. We all have to begin somewhere and I can bet you that even the top people here at WA started off slow and small.
Nothing like a little bit of evidence to keep things moving forward.
To everyone's success...whatever that means to you.
Warmly, Heather :-)

Thanks, Alexander. Once I finally believed it was a small success, I was able to share it. WA has played a big part in this realization. I'm so glad you found it motivating...and yes...yippee! Warmly, Heather :-)

Well done, Heather. Time to revise the book, made it a Revision 2 (2016 version), get some testimonials from existing clients, bring this up to the next level!
