Split testing, Split testing, split testing....I'm addicted to it
I have never been a numbers guy, but I love stats. Little did I know that some of the most innovative Marketers out there split test everything they do until they are blue in the face.
I was invited by a friend to go to D.C. to sit in on the filming of a product that Daegan Smith and Russell Brunson where conducting. I was very surprised to see how small the group was and the amount of information I learned in the 3 days was mind blowing. But one thing that really stuck with me was how much Russell and his team split test everything. I was intrigued by just a few minor tweaks to a capture page made a huge difference in how the page converted. Now these guys advertise on a grand scale but when I got home I started to do the same and realized I was completely wrong when it came to my theory. I always thought the more jazzed up a capture page was the better it would convert (wrong).
I started to see trends where even though the page was a flat grey but the copy was right on target that it was converting much better than my "awesome looking" capture page. Now one thing to consider, there are many forms of traffic, so when you test something in one traffic area don't go ahead and ditch it right away because it may convert better in another traffic source.
The thing about testing everything you do may sound like a bit much but I can tell you this much, it is well worth the time and effort. and it is fun too:)
Okay, here are 2 video funnels I am split testing right now. I made them both all the way through and want to get your opinion on which one is converting better... I will be able to give you the official results once I finish tweaking them. Also, if you see something that turns you off right away, please be honest and give me your honest opinion.
If you start doing this it will become addictive!
