Pre flop

Today I want to do something new. Something different. I don't want to emphasize on the business part. I don't want to emphasize on how to make money, how to get traffic to a web page, how to expand your business to get clients. Sure all those categories are important to have a successful business. Either you are in the blogging industry, E-commerce business, or you have your own store in the center of New York City.

I don't want to get into Google search, how to make a YouTube channel, how to take the perfect picture and get followers at snapchat, Instagram or Facebook. Those are utmost important to have to advertise yourself and your business on another level tough. Don't forget to have your own wall at Pinterrest as well. The power of social media marketing can have an amazing impact on your business and traffic. Especially if you leverage on email marketing and affiliate programs as well.

The flop

Today I want to focus on myself. Not in a selfish way, but more like a very short biography. I want to really expose myself. I want spill my guts out to you. I want to emphasize on the life challenges that could occur. I want you to get to know who I am, where I am at this stage of life and where I want to go. Sure I have hope and dreams, but some of them are not obtainable. Or are they? Only time will tell. Maybe, maybe not.

I don't want to write a full bio here in this blog post, because most of it you can read on my profile. But I'm however to mention some key points. And there are some topics I will elaborate on some more. As mentioned in my profile, I hadn't had any steady job since 2009. This is because of my back problems. I got diagnosed with Scheuermann’s Disease back in 2003. I was 15 years old at that time. But the worst pain occur in 2009 when I was 21 years old. My back pain has been my nemesis since.

The Turn

I have a theory that something happened when I crashed into one of my cycle team members at training back in 2009. But I don't know. I didn't have any health check up after I crashed. Big mistake. I have a fear of doctors. My team-mate got some broken ribs and was out of commission for a while.

Scheuermann's disease usually causes pain in and around the thoracic spine. It can also lead to an increased thoracic or mid/upper back kyphosis (bend). This can then lead to some restriction in range of movement especially into extension (bending backwards).

The pain can be made worse by activity including sports that require a lot of twisting, or forceful bending or arching backwards such as gymnastics, cricket or athletic field events.

In most cases the pain will eventually fade away, but that's not the case with me. I have good days, and there are days when I just have to be in the bed. Especially if I did done some hard work or static work beforehand.

Because of this I get by through weightlifting. I have always been involved with sports when I grew up. such as judo, kickboxing, taekwondo, grappling and cycling. Not so good idea when you struggle with back pain, but when you are young and restless you don't think about it. You always get advice to walk in the woods if you struggle with back pain, but for me the best thing has always been lifting weights.

If you suddenly have to turn around on your life because of health issues, changing career, changing in family situation in some way, you can get depressed and need to go to therapy. It happened to me. Fortunately I managed to get out of it with help from my therapist, medication, and willing to turn things around. Sure enough it wasn't easy, and many setbacks. But I did it. This was back in 2010 if I remember correctly.

I tried different kind of jobs since 2012. I was officially a social client at this time. After many meetings with doctors and the social client office in Norway, NAV, which is a struggle on its own....

Try to convince somebody that you struggle with heavy pain when the only thing you are diagnosed with through MRI have good prognosis. According to the knowledge of Scheuermann’s Disease, which isn't alot, I shouldn't have such severe back pain and in need for strong painkillers. It's hard to find a job where you can manage your own days and earn enough money to get by. My solution to this problem is to work for myself and don't be dependent of others.

I tried to get my driver license, because this could be a ticket to a part-time job as a taxi driver, but to the lack of money and inconsistencies in my driving learning, both private and with the driving school, this has been a big thorn in my side. It has gone 3 years, $5500 and no driving license. I'm fed up and broke.

Have I given up yet? Nope. I just taken a break and regroup.

The river

And the most important thing in my life that keep me going is my love of my life and my love for animals. I had a wonderful time with my Labrador retriever who unfortunately passed away last year of cancer at the age of 8. But my fiancee has 3 wonderful cats. Two house cats and one beautiful Norwegian forest cat. She also has 3 aquariums filled with platy, pearl gourami, gold gourami, catfish, sword tail, and angel fish. She advances in her hobby every day.

But she doesn't understand why I need to work so much online and especially if she doesn't seen any income from it. But heck, nobody who doesn't know how to build a business from scratch even it's online or a physical store knows. People expect income from the first sale. They don't take into the consideration of the expenses like you have to pay your workers salary, taxes, power bill, renting of storage and so on.

A business first start to make money after 3-5 year. If you do the right things. If not, you lose your investments. That's the harsh reality.

The show down

So yeah, its challenging to explain this to people. Especially if they won't or tries to understand. So even what changes you have in your life or in your business, the important thing is to never give up, or let anybody tell you that it's pointless or you won't make it. It's all up to you.

Final words

You have to read your opponents, figure out your and your opponents next move. If you have skills and some luck you will win your prize and the cash. So yes, life is like poker. You need to know when to holdem and when to foldem. Be tactical and get lucky.

You have had some challenge. Yes having a partner who has never built a business and is slightly obstructive to you doing the necessary work can drive you nuts. Do it anyway. One day they will realise.

Stay your path and succeed.

Lily 😊

It's not just family and nearest friends who struggle with to understand, but population in general. Think about it, people always have endency to compare with 9 to 5 jobs where they earning their salaries for the hourly rate.
Yes, life is challenging, but then the reward will taste so much better.

Yep. The only way through is through. You can only play the hand you're dealt. Trick is learning how to play!

Christine

That's correct. We have to play with the hand we are dealt. Then we have to play the players.
