Turn Your Visitors into Subscribers [How to Build a List of Email Marketing]

But you don't mind.

Today is going to be great.

And you know it's going to be great, because yesterday was great. Just like the day before that and the day before that. And the day before that.

You roll out of bed, put on a pot of coffee and walk into your home office. Your desk is small, but it doesn't need to be big.

There's no clutter. No files. Just room for your laptop and a cup of coffee.

You type up a quick email and press "Send" just as your coffee finishes roasting.

You get up from your desk, walk into your kitchen and pour a cup.

You pause, take a few quick sips and then walk back to your home office.

You log in to your CRM.

The sales are already rolling in.

You finish your coffee and turn on the shower. You're ready to begin your day, but what are you going to do?

That's entirely up to you.

Because your work is finished."

This is an excerpt from the book "Invisible Selling Machine" by the master of email marketing Ryan Deiss.

I think this story does a better job at explaining email marketing than I can ever strive to, but more importantly, it inspires my love for it, maybe it will do the same for you.

So let me tell you exactly how to build a list of email marketing!

Are your visitors leaving without meeting you?

So you have your website, SEO is perfect because you learned it here from Master Kyle, people are starting to visit, read your posts, some click on your links, some become a part of WA, others... just leave!

Maybe that post didn't fully convince them of what WA is, maybe they didn't believe you... why should they? They don't know you! It could be just another scam...

But what if you offered them something of value? Something that can really help them get something they want now?

What if in exchange they gave you their email address? A way to keep in touch, to send them more awesome information.

How many of these people do you think would start trusting you and probably start believing when you tell them stories of how WA has helped you. Stories you can share through email.


But people receive too many emails...

Yes, they do. The average person receives around 170 emails per day. But 90% of them are promotional or spam. How many valuable emails do YOU receive?

Me, for once, I have filtered my subscriptions to receive only emails from people I want to receive. And trust me, even those, I have to be picky about because there are some marketers emailing some amazing information.

So why can't you do the same?

Think about it, all of a sudden you start to make some good money with WA, getting rewarded for your work, and share it with your subscribers.

Even better, you understand what worked for you and where you wasted your time, and let them know about it, saving them from making the same mistakes.

How likely are they to subscribe to Wealhy Affiliate as your affiliates then?

Do you think they'd complain about receiving emails from you?

These subscribers are people who visited your website, didn’t join WA, but were interested in what you had to offer them, which if your offer was affiliate marketing or home based business related, it means they might be interested in WA if offered to them at the right moment and with the right level of trust.

We’re all in different paths in our lives, some of us have been burned more than others...

Turning visitors into leads or how to build a list of email marketing from your website visitors

So what should you offer your website visitors to get them to subscribe to your list?

It can be a PDF document, an email course, a video, anything works…

These are called lead magnets. (You’ll find people calling them different names)

When we’re told that we need to offer something for free, we tend to panic. “Oh no, what can I give away for free?”

Hold on a second, it could be much easier than you think. I’ve learned through experience that sometimes less is more.

Don’t start by creating a complicated course on affiliate marketing. I did that, in another niche.

Instead, keep it simple and be very specific.

I will start by breaking it down into a checklist, the more of these you manage to check the more attractive your lead magnet becomes:

  • Focus on one problem only.
  • Promises “one big thing” (as opposed to a lot of little ones) and delivers.
  • Immediate gratification (a newsletter is not immediate).
  • Has a high perceived value. (this can be achieved through graphics)
  • Has a high actual value. (your time is valuable)
  • Rapidly consumable.

Simple But Valuable

I recently wrote a post on my blog called “Ideal Client Profile to Start a Business” (if you'd like to read it ask me in the comments below), this was a very easy lead magnet to come up with. A google sheet template to fill out the ideal client profile.

It took me a whole afternoon to build, but it’s one afternoon that someone else saves or more by subscribing to my list. I’ve created failed lead magnets in the past that took me months to build.

And think about it, it makes sense with the content, the person reads instructions and then has the opportunity of downloading the tool.

Then I used graphics (in canva) to build up the perceived value in the opt-in form.



Sometimes You don’t even need to build anything

A while ago Nathalie (@MegaWealthy9) asked for help to start building her email list which she needed to promote a product she was very interested in, I contacted her and started throwing information at her.

In the beginning, I could feel I wasn’t helping much…

And I’m used to this feeling of trying to help someone with a problem and not speaking the same language.

Nathalie stopped me in my tracks - and actually helped me more than I helped her (she just doesn’t know it), she showed me how to speak everyone’s language, with examples - so I gave her some examples of lead magnets I had used.

Later, I had an idea. She wanted to promote a product launch, why not make the product launch itself the magnet? Tell people what the product is, how they can benefit from it and that to get it on launch day all they have to do is subscribe.

I must say I didn’t expect Nathalie to get the results she had, but all merit goes to her, because what gave her the results was the implementation of the strategy. She did a fantastic job and got rewarded for it.



After you do this, make sure you welcome them correctly, because what’s the point of having a subscriber that doesn’t open your emails?

It's become clichet that the most important thing is your list or that "the money is in the list", but no one really explains why...

A website visitor reads your blog once and leaves, an email subscriber receives all your emails, gets to know you and trust and might buy from you at any moment in time. Why not turn one into the other? ;)
