Last of the Silly Season
Having had a public holiday on Thursday and another on Monday, most people took Friday off to enjoy the last long weekend we are to have for a while. Christmas, Easter and long weekends is what we refer to as the Silly Season.
Being in Hermanus, which is a holiday destination, especially for local South Africans, as it is a mere hour and a bit drive from Cape Town, so guess where everyone is this weekend !!!
Together with the long weekend, we have quite a few events happening in town. Don't get me wrong, we love the visitors, because it creates wonderful gees (good vibes) but especially because we have a few shops in town that rely on them.
Where we live though, I don't really want the noisy vibes. I have so much work to do this weekend from my home office, and 4 houses around where we live are "holiday homes", and are only occupied during long weekends and holidays.
This weekend they are full of loud people partying and making "holiday" noises. Normally it is nice to hear as I too am in that holiday mode - and good vibes create good vibes, but this weekend, with so much work, I could do without it as my little dog is not use to these noises on a daily basis, so barks at every little sound, scream and loud talking coming from the other side of the wall.
It is driving me nuts I tell you ...
This is what they are normally like:

Don't worry, this holiday will pass faster than you can imagine. Especially as you have work to do. BTW: cute dogs!
One word, Earplugs. (for you)
But a suggestion I have, I have 5 dogs and also live in a lively tourist destination, I play classical music for my dogs to drown out the fireworks and loud noises. Often it has worked to settle them down.

It's hard when you have distractions, especially when you need to be working! This too shall pass :)
