Finding the horse
There was a wealthy man who couldn't decide which one of his 2 sons to leave the running of his business to, so he decided to give them a test.
They all met at a farm shed that was full of shyte, and the father asked each one of them what they would do with this shed if it were left to them.
Within 5 minutes the one son came back to his office and said, I believe your test was for me to run as fast as I could away from that shed as it was full of shyte and smelt really bad - so I left before the smell stuck on me.
After 2 days the other son came back to his father's office, filthy and full of shyte - and the father asked "what took you so long and what have you been up to" - and the son said, "I knew that if there was that much shyte, then there had to be a horse - so I have been looking for it"
Ever since I heard this story that went something like the above, I have adopted that same attitude - there must be a horse to find when I get that first wiff of shyte.
This week I did just that - at my day job, where there have been quite a few retrenchment's happening (the first wiff), I made suggestions that turned into an opportunity for the company - so in essence, I found my horse.
