Work

I attended a ball (a formal dinner/dance like a Prom) last night for one of my part-time roles but because I took a friend with me (she described her role as my 'handbag') it was a whole lot of fun wrapped up in a work function. My friend did a fabulous job and understood when I was chatting to board members, Artistic Director and partners on our table. Then at one point we could dance the night away. Good friends and Good times!

Home

Now it is Saturday morning and I am home having a lovely sleep-in listening to our fur babies scamper around our home.

So although I am working on and off for my business development job this weekend (I work for an Aboriginal organisation and it is currently NAIDOC week) I am feeling pretty blessed and feeling like I have pretty great Life Balance after all I've just had a week off for school holidays with my son so pretty cool

NAIDOC means (from Wikipedia)

National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee), to recognise Torres Strait Islanders and to describe a whole week of recognition, rather than one day. The committee's acronym has become the name of the week itself.

Today I will be going at a pretty slow pace. In between hot cups of tea (it's winter here) I'm looking forward to listening to the recording of Jay's weekly event, touching base with 6 great members we support each other as accountability partners, creating some more content, and going for a walk in between the 'sun rain showers'.

Working here doesn't feel like working. In fact working on my blog and working in my 2 part-time roles (business development and flute teacher) I absolutely love what I do. Maybe it's because I do all 3 part-time and therefore have a lot of variety... Anyway feeling very blessed with my lifestyle right now and being a part of this community is a part of that lifestyle. I'd love to hear from you:

Attaining a proper work/life balance has always been a struggle for me, mostly due to our finances. At its worst, I worked non-stop, with very little to show for it. I have started instituting a set cut-off time each day. That's the time that I shut down my computer for the day and don't look at it again till the next morning. I am also in the process of trying to decrease the number of online endeavors I am involved in. Selling on Etsy, Handmade at Amazon, and Poshmark, all require a fair amount of time, photography, SEO description writing, listing creation, etc. I'm trying to work on cutting back on my Poshmark activities, but the hunt for new inventory is so much fun sometimes, but said inventory is also starting to take over the house, and if we ever have any hopes of traveling, I need businesses that I can easily do from the road, and a bedroom full of clothing and accessories isn't it.

The little changes I have made have improved my stress levels as well, but I still have a ways to go.

I hear you Jennifer. You are not alone. Yes if you’re aspirations are to travel and for a laptop lifestyle then yes looking at holding no stock or drop shipping options you will need to achieve.

My son and I want to move house so we are decluttering now so it is easier to achieve

I just started a new site where all the products are dropshipped. It was one I recently transitioned to WooCommerce from Shopify. I really need to work on breaking the habit of carrying inventory, but it's such a high when you see that package go out the door. I might just be addicted to it LOL!

love it

I generally plan my days and weekends to balance life's activities. Always plug God, family, work, and personal activities into my daily equation...but make sure I can flex those activities when the unexpected occurs. As always, nice post. George

Thanks, George - thanks for sharing. Yes I meditate each morning and I didn't do it this morning, so I think I'll do one now before I go to bed. I liken our daily rituals, habits, routines as necessary and important as having a daily shower and brushing your teeth. Interesting how we do these tasks no problem but sometimes question tasks such as meditating despite knowing how beneficial it is - crazy!!

That's a very good question, but so important because life is all about balance. We just need to leverage resources, do what we love and make sure we also have time for people and establishing solid relationships. Just be able to take care of you and people around you and just you business. That's how I see it!

Nice, I think the consistent theme in this conversation is practising the discipline of having time for people and relationships. We continually need to work at it in some way. Thanks for sharing your personal insight. I like your highlight to leverage resources.

My pleasure my friend, lets keep sharing and learning with each other, thanks a lot and have a great Saturday.

Good Question, just keep re-adjusting to try to get done what I need to get done. Glad you enjoyed your dinner dance, have a summer ball to go to on September 1st, so will have to dig the tux out.

Stuart

Agreed Stuart, all the plans in the world need to be adjusted as we proceed through the process and journey. Funny when I was younger I put so much pressure on myself that I had to achieve the exact goal or task I first intended. However, along with the journey sometimes this needs adjusting when you gain new knowledge.

Nice re your ball. I have another one in 3 weeks too! Need to recover from this first one, however :)

Just to show the young ones how to dance properly!

Awesome!

Wonderful wind down to the weekend Fluer, creating that balance can be so productive, Only happens if we work at it, enjoy your weekend.

Yes that's the irony of it really - we need to 'work at the discipline of work/life balance' you too!

Sounds like the ball was a hit, great to hear you had fun.

Complete fun without its car key loss drama this morning but all solved now = ying and yang

Kind of in the same ballgame as I don't have a fulltime job for many years, but making money with things I like. As being a metabolic health coach/personal trainer, fitness consultant, selling premium cigars to different locations, having a small coffee booth that, to be honest my wife take care the most part and a little busy with Unicity, but that is also on the side related to my fitness life and now mixing in WA. So can't say that I am bored to much diversity and most important a free lifestyle no boss around.

Cheers

Living the dream then Tommy = nice!

Still haven't achieved balance Fleur lol still working my life with WA in it now :)
I will fine tune it eventually but for now just do the best I can.
My life has got way more exciting now since joining though :)
Thank you as usual your post are always uplifting.
Many thanks :)

Di :)

Thank you Di I'm glad my posts inspire you. Take one step at a time and one step closer. I've just realised I've lost my only car key from my adventures last night... but rather than getting upset I have to let it go and do what I can to find it :)

Lol I know what that's like :)
You and your friend look like you had a blast :)

Redid - and car keys are found - phew!

I sort of free float but it does get accomplished Fleur!

Oh how do you define free float Michael?

Take it easy and let things happen!

Nice

Happy to hear you had a great time at your ball. You are write, it is much easier when you like what do.

It just makes life easier Linda I'm glad we are likeminded
