What is Your Core Genius?
I have been quiet this past week or so because I have been hit with 2 colds one after the other. The 2nd time was much worse and really hit me for a 6. So I decided to take the time out resting at home to re-read a book I read almost 10 years ago. 'The Success Principles' by Jack Canfield.
In Jack's words this book helps you to: 'Discover and focus on your CORE GENIUS - be better at what you do best, and be a huge success at the things you enjoy the most.'
Mine I have known for many years is my ability to connect people and build community however....
I 'lost my MOJO' a couple of years ago when my traditional face-to-face business lost 70% of its income in 3 months. On reflection I was relying on too narrow a client base (was location focused). I am still paying bills for that business and plan to have paid them out by the end of this year. I still experience echoes from this business of past clients that sang my praises for many years but now appear to be almost repelled by me; to the extent that they don't even acknowledge or express gratitude for the many connections I initiated which they still continue today. If I offended them I have no idea of what I did, other than no longer holding events but I was open and transparent about this and just needed 6 months or so to regroup and build myself back up again. And I mean financially in my personal life too. It was a massive hit financially. But today I am proud of myself for having 'survived' that huge and sudden financial change and have got myself back on track.
So back to my core genius...
Connecting people and building community
- I want to translate this to the online world, a blog, affiliate marketing but I keep sabotaging myself with inconsistent posts. What to do...
I decided to write this post and to put it out to the universe here in this trusted global community and then see what transpires. All I know is, this is my specialty and I am really great at it particularly face-to-face, it is now about translating that to a predominantly online business perhaps with an annual face-to-face component - I am talking/brainstorming out loud here.
Finally, what is your core genius? What do you believe you were put on the planet for?

I can relate as a business person Irma is costing us a similar drop in revenue and poor management by the powers that be is making it worse.You just have to get up,dust off and move on.
I can totally relate to your post and your experiences. I too am trying to translate my core genius in to the online world.
As a very well paid training consultant I know that my skill lies in inspiring people to make positive changes in their working and personal life through understanding first themselves and then having empathy with others. This usually leads to more positive communication and more harmony.
A change in circumstances means this career is no longer an option for me.
I did this so easily face to face, but online? I have no clue.... yet !

Shoo, Fleur.... What an experience to go through! I was also completely living out my Core Genius (training, motivating and mentoring leaders) when the company I worked for went under. So I have an inkling of what you must have gone through. I'm also trying to work out how to take my skills and make them soar online.
What comes to mind for me is that you could build an amazing Facebook group with your skills or better still, directly on your site. Have a look at what LynneHuy is doing on Kaboutjie.
