Dear WA community,

Gosh I just love being a member of this community.

Could I ask for your help? I haven't been able to find any existing articles addressing my questions:

I am starting to be approached to write guest blogs and write as a ghost blogger.

I have some existing ideas myself on what to charge etc. However, do I build in research time to my fee?

I'm being approached as a regular content creator (outside of WA) so therefore should I charge more a package for a certain number of articles, with a certain number of words with costs of research built in?

If you don't mind please share some ideas that you have achieved successfuly -

Thanking you in advance.

Wow Fleur. Congrats!
I can't offer any advice though.
But YAY for you. How exciting.

Thanks a bunch Lee

No experience on it

I am not sure how this really works but you could charge a flat rate per article depending on the number of words with research included. I would think that is reasonable but like I said I am not sure how that works. I just give suggestions.

Thank you

You are so very welcome

Guest blogs are often done for 'exposure' and a requirement should be that they allow you to put a link to your site in your bio - no link, no post. Fees generally run $50 for a guest post, if they offer one.

Writing rates vary from $0.02 per word to $0.10 per word, with the average being somewhere around #0.03-0.05 per word. Then there are the places that pay for articles 'on spec' but you spend the time writing them without any guarantee of them being accepted. These will usually pay in the $100-200 range.

Blogging is a very mixed bag of rates right now. Good luck on your journey.

Thanks so much that is great! I like the per word rate that's helpful

go for it
yes, charge for research time.

Thanks Steven

I did a guest post for another WA person for nothing but did get a writing credit and backlink.

I follow the advice of Carol Tice when it comes to charging freelance writing fees. Have a look at her site makealivingwritingdotcom.

Thanks so much Mark that's helpful

Carol Tice talks about your issue here: https://www.makealivingwriting.com/charge-higher-freelance-rates/#more-16949

It's a start. Good luck and congrats!

Great thanks you Tom appreciated

That's cool!
I would think that the charging method would depend on the article to be delivered. I would assume that a 2000 word article would be charged higher than a 1000 word article and so forth.
And if I were doing it ,I would factor in the research time and keyword research.

Thanks Mike appreciated

If the blogs are in your niche area or related to your niche do it for a backlink to your site and watch your traffic grow exponentially.

Thanks Derek, I'm totally into that but also ok with being paid cash too!

You may need to direct to fee structure posted on your website in your profile Fleur. Solicitation of fees in open forum is problematical in WA.

Hi Michael, you misunderstand me. I am being approached outside of WA not within WA. I am only asking within WA if anyone has experience charging for their blogging services to assist me to respond to these enquiries outside of WA
