Choosing a brand, a nickname or a mascot is very important.
It has to be universal, simple, understood by all, representative and original.
Who is most known: Walt Disney or Mickey Mouse? About the youngsters very few will know Disney created Mickey. And yet, what a fame!
We all like this little character. So easy to identify with since it has become a reference and archetype for many.
What is my point?
Be original in your choice. It has to be catchy, evocative and unique.
Some play with colors, others with symbols, a name or a picture, and many do combine a little of all that.
Nobody remembers a nickname that looks like a password or a name followed by a number. Unless you are James Bond, of course. The 007.
So, focus on something original that translates all that.

This is actually something I've been thinking a lot about with a product I'm designing. I've spent literally hours - when it's all added up - deciding which name to use! Names aren't everything but they shouldn't be discounted either. Thanks Fleeky for reading my mind!
