Writer's Group Meets in Alaska Winter Wonderland

Since you seem to find the photos fun, decided to do some more. Every Friday we have our writer's group, usually at Abigail's house. She's our organizer; she's also published a bunch of books, and has her own studio just for writing. So, join me on my trip to Abigail's.

Here is Abigal and Rob's cute little house. Next door is the studio.

Every writer should have such a studio!

The main road

This is the Gustavus Inn, owned for years by the same family. Now it has been sold to one of the large Native corporations.

My poor little buried car.

There you have it, folks...more Alaska winter wonderland. I think it's beautiful, but will be happy when it is gone!

Two groups of friends just got here. One brought me a pumpkin pie, because she said they had too many...the next two came to dig out a trail back of the house to the oil tank. It's 3 or 4 feet deep, and I know the oil man would not want to plow through there to fill the tank.

Friends are wonderful! And so are all of you -- May you have a joyous Christmas!

I wish I could join your writers' group. I lived in Anchorage in my younger years (70's). These were my favorite years ever, though I got in plenty of near trouble because the bars closed for a mere hour a day. Nevertheless, I survived the bars and the winters. I loved that you could hail down the Alaska railroad for a ride. And hello, "Birdhouse". Were I not married, I believe I would have applied for your "come and share" offer.

PS, could you as a writer tell me if I got that last sentence grammatically correct?

Yes, I believe it is.

Oh, shux, wish I had room for two! Most folks seem a bit afraid or intimidated by Alaska.

Fran, your winter writer's group and Frontier Spirit reminds me so much of my Alaskan past. I know it may be hard to find, now, in the city. It still exists where you live!
We wiuld drive the 50 miles from Palmer to Anchorage. If we were stopped along the road, it was not unusual for another car to stop to inquire, "Do you need any help?"
Who knows, at anytime we just might need that help. We all looked out for our neighbors. "Am I my brothers' keeper?"

Yes, people here are so helpful. I have received several visits this season from friends wanting to help if I needed anything...people have shoveled, taken me for errands, brought food and gifts, and in general making me glad I live here.

Loving the photos, but feel sorry for your poor car. More snow than 🚘 car. Snow ❄️ wins..
Stephen

Yep, snow wins. I'd dig it out, but can't drive it in this weather because my studded tires are in the shed and I can't find anyone here who will put them on for me.

Wow! These pictures are really
professionally taken and they are
just so wonderful to look at though
I could feel the coldness and the
dampness in my bone. :-)

Oh, your car... oh, no.

Rest yourself for tomorrow and
it is a wonderful Christmas just
like you.

Much love.

Elizabeth

Thanks, Elizabeth. Glad you liked the pictures. Yes, it is a wonderful Christmas -- hope yours is as well.

Beautiful pictures, Fran.
Stay safe.

Thank you. You, too.
