What Is Perceived Value?
If your information source is one you can trust and that you know has delivered the true value of something in the past, it is likely one you can believe to be correct. It will add credibility to your belief in the item's value.
If you are basing your perception of value on new information you have received about something you are investigating, don't just accept the information as "truth." Look further. Research the product and see what other people are saying. More information makes for a wiser decision.
For my MMO website, I write many reviews about products someone is touting with the express desire of getting you captured in their net. Sometimes this information is good, and they are offering you something of value.
However, too many times, the person "pushing" the product is only in the game for the money they can peel off your available resources. They will tell you any lie that they think may "sell" you on the product or opportunity.
Because of these shady characters and their scam offers, it behooves you to be quite thorough in your investigation before you make your decision. Don't be taken in by hype and false promises.
I am amazed at what is out there. So many times you are being led down the primrose path for the sole purpose of removing your money from your wallet.
These scammers are all desirous of changing your perceived value of the offer to be in their favor. They claim that what they have can change your life for the better.
Know what you are getting. Decide what it is worth to you. If the opportunity appears to offer you great wealth without much effort -- "just a few clicks of your mouse" -- be on guard. If it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is just that. Don't be taken in by the promise of instant riches.
We would all like to find such an opportunity. We are basically very willing to embrace the option of being lazy. We would like the work to be done for us. Such thinking is not conducive to success.
The work ethic lives on! If you truly want success, you will have to work for it. Don't expect it to be handed to you. Be willing to find a good opportunity that can offer you success if you earn it. Wealthy Affiliate is such an opportunity, by the way. On this platform, do what is necessary to move yourself forward.
Perceived value can be good or bad. It depends on whether you are being offered a very good opportunity that can fulfill your desires if you work for them or if you are being led astray by the person making the offer.
Do the research. If your perceived value still sees the opportunity as the one you have been looking for, go for it! Best of luck to you on your journey.

All con artist/scammer terms:"Ideal for newbies" "3 clicks of the mouse" "earning money within hours" "Up and running in 2/3 minutes"
Then you read the tiny print that says watch ALL the videos first. I have challenged many a con artist on their lies.
Plus with most, the minute you have paid that small sum you start getting the upsells.
I say: So you are telling me that what I have bought is rubbish because these are supposedly top notch. Money claimed back.
Now I look at them and laugh.

Hmmm didn't really answer the question though, apologies, it's the whole scam thing just bugs me.
I do agree with you on the value thing too.
An item is only worth what someone is prepared to pay.
